About this listen

Friendship Has No Colour is a wonderful story about a boy named Max, who has just moved to a new neighbourhood, with the goal of making good friendships at his new school. He meets his neighbour Emily, who also attends his new school and offers to show him around and introduce him to her best friends Billy and Timothy. However, Max runs into a problem, when his classmate Oliver, refuses to play a game of soccer with him, due to his appearance. When attempts from Emily and Billy fail, in convincing Oliver that his actions toward Max are wrong, Timothy secretly takes matters into his own hands.

Timothy disguises himself as the Warrior of Good Values with his heroic attire, and shocks everyone when he appears. He speaks firmly and assertively to Oliver about the importance of acceptance and diversity. Oliver eventually listens and understands the warrior's reasoning, due to his authoritative nature. Realizing his actions are wrong, Oliver extends his apologies to Max and Emily. Emily and Max both forgive Oliver, and they all enjoy a nice game of soccer together.

This book focuses on the messages of acceptance and kindness toward each other despite our physical differences. It also highlights different characteristics of races, and shows the meaning of being uniquely different, and furthermore, encompasses the lessons of developing great values such as friendship, diversity and forgiveness.

This story was such a wonderful listen for me and my 4-year-old son, Adir. The messages about kindness, diversity, and forgiveness were easy for him to understand. He loved hearing about Max, Emily, and Timothy, especially the Warrior of Good Values, which brought an element of adventure to the story! It helped him realize why people look different (skin and hair) and why being kind to everyone is so important. We had great conversations about accepting others, standing up for what's right and offering sincere apologies. The story is engaging, and the lessons are timeless. This book is a must-have for teaching kids about friendship and acceptance.

This audiobook is a true gem for children and adults alike! Using an imaginative and heartfelt story, it skillfully introduces important themes of diversity, inclusion, and understanding bias in a way that is both accessible and engaging for young listeners. The relatable characters and real-life scenarios provide practical examples of how to recognize and address bias, encouraging thoughtful conversations and empathy.

The narration is clear and expressive, making it easy for children to follow along and connect with the story. However, the pacing felt a bit slow at times. While this may be ideal for younger audiences who need extra time to process the content, a slightly faster tempo would have improved the overall listening experience.

Despite this minor flaw, the audiobook’s powerful message, creative storytelling, and actionable lessons make it an invaluable resource for teaching inclusivity and kindness. Highly recommended for families, educators, and anyone looking to foster understanding and acceptance in young hearts and minds!
