About this listen

Foxe Den follows high school English teacher Skyler Foxe and his friends throughout the holidays, from Thanksgiving to New Year's. Along the way, Skyler gets to inflict his mother on his boyfriend Keith, meets Keith's parents, and just generally tries to navigate the treacherous waters of a brand new relationship.

Unlike the novels, this novella hasn't any mystery to solve. It's the sort of stuff that happens between characters once the audio has ended.

Delightful Edition To The Skyler Fox Series

Any additional comments?

Not to be read as a stand alone piece, this novella should be enjoyed after the adventure in book No. 3. Of course by this time you should have read all the books leading up to this one so there should be no problem there. Though not a mystery this tale expands the emotional lives of the characters we have grown to care about by watching their relationships develop through the holiday season. If you have enjoyed this unusual series and the lives and friendships of the characters Haley Walsh has created then listening to Joel Leslie bring them to life once again in this audio book is a no brainer.

I continue to enjoy this series which I started warily, then it became a guilty pleasure and now I've dropped all guilt and can highly recommend the Skyler Foxe series as a well written entertaining series in the MM genre combining mystery, humor, romance and hot MM action in a highly enjoyable brew by Haley Walsh.

Loved it!

I really loved this one! I love Skyler and Keith together and their family/holiday time was so sweet. I know Skyler has his doubts, but Keith is perfect for him and I can't wait to see what happens next.

This review would not be complete without mentioning how awesome a job Joel Leslie does on the narration. All of his character voices are great and I absolutely love the audiobooks for this series.

Sweet little shorts showcasing the characters

Any additional comments?

A series of short stories chronicling Thanksgiving, "TE" (Turkey Extravaganza) Day, Christmas, and New Year's with Skyler and boyfriend, Keith.

Skyler is delightful as he continuously freaks out about the progression of his relationship with Keith and gets advice along the way from Sidney, Jamie, and Philip. Keith spends time with Skyler's mom, and Skyler spends time with Keith's family.

All in all they're sweet little shorts that showcase the best of all the characters and Joel Leslie narrates each one well, bringing the humor, skittishness, passion and joy to the forefront. It's all about the emotions and relationships with none of those pesky mysteries to get in the way.

Skyler just keeps getting more delicious.

I'm now officially addicted to this series. It's sassy, sexy, silly and full of enough sappy romance to have me hooked. This time there's no overall mystery - just the holiday hijinks of Skyler and his wacky friends as Skyler and Keith navigate their new relationship. The story has some great farce scenes. The book chronicles Thanksgiving through New Years and it's a family-centric pressure cooker for commitment-phobic Skyler. Skyler's as adorably infuriating as always... and his buddies in the SFC provide tons of laughs. As ever, Joel Leslie's narration is over-the-top and irresistible - I can't imagine anyone else bringing the comedic zest to these characters that he does... it's a great match of narrator and material. It's one of my favorite in the series, and hopefully the books keep getting more and more fun.

Joel Leslie is phenomenal!

Any additional comments?

This review is for the Skyler Foxe Mystery, books 1 - 3.5. I literally listened to them back to back with only rest to sleep. lol

Skylar Foxe is annoying, beautiful, charming, funny, lovely, outrages, trouble, and just perfect! Although Jaime is my favorite character in this series you grow to love Skylar's Jewish beat friend, her new Filipino boyfriend, Philip, Rudolpho, ❤️ Keith❤️ and all the students who become champions for Skylar. The last school dance was such a special and beautiful moment, it was impossible not to fall in love with those kids!

I loved that Skylar's in love with many artists from Motown and in book 3.5, his reactions to the Christmas gift Keith gave him was perfection! Just loved it!

My favorites moment and or quotes:

"You're the blondest, palest, black woman I've ever seen." 😜

"If I get killed, my mother will never forgive me." Book 3

"Creepy scooby doo care keeper." Book 2

💖 "By your talent for decorative arrangements, you might just be a homosexual." 💖 Book 3.5

Continuation of a greet series **no spoilers**

While this was a novella focusing on the holidays, it does add a few more dynamics to their relationship. Nothing happens that really relates directly to any of the mysteries. However, the book carries the same angst-ridden main characters. However, as always, the story moves along quickly and the characters are just as likable as ever. The author has an amazing ability to keep the narrative flowing and somewhat light, yet still giving depth to the characters and the story surrounding them.

The narrator is good as always. He created enough distinction in the characters to distinguish one from the other without too much issue.

Not a mystery, just more of Skyler & Keith

Would you listen to Foxe Den again? Why?

YES!

What did you like best about this story?

Skyler does not have any mysteries to solve in this one. This is a novella that picks up exactly where Out Foxed left off and covers Keith moving in with Skyler and their holidays from Thanksgiving through New Year's. Keith decides that this is a test period as he is afraid Skyler might not adjust well, but things go better than expected even if Keith is a slob!

Which scene was your favorite?

I loved Keith and Skyler cooking for their friends for TE Day.

Who was the most memorable character of Foxe Den and why?

Skyler and Keith

Any additional comments?

Keep going! This series is so great, I'm obsessed with it!

Very cute & sexy holiday story

What did you love best about Foxe Den?

I loved Skyler's reactions to his developing relationship with Keith, the inner turmoil & panicked phone calls to friends are great.

What did you like best about this story?

The best part was the trip to see the "in laws", we get to see Skyler over come some of his fears & interact with a family very different from his.

Which scene was your favorite?

The ending was my favorite, "after all, what else could possibly go wrong now...."
Seeing as there are more books to come, I would say plenty lol

Any additional comments?

Joel Leslie's narration was great as usual!

My favorite so far!

What made the experience of listening to Foxe Den the most enjoyable?

There was something about this that i just loved - even though this Skyler story doesn't have a mystery framing the narrative - the relationships and the characters were more than enough to keep me totally engaged.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Foxe Den?

There are some really adorable benchmark moments for Skyler and Keith in the book - I thought the scene where they exchange gifts was really adorable. And, as ever, Walsh gives us some pretty delicious sex scenes to enjoy.

Which scene was your favorite?

Really hard to say - but there were some really funny sections during the Thanksgiving dinner at Skyler's mother's house. It had a great classic farce energy to it.

If you could rename Foxe Den, what would you call it?

The title's pretty perfect... it's a really homey, cozy novel that is a perfect continuation to the series.

Any additional comments?

Fabulous narration that brings out the smart, comedic tone of Walsh's writing... Joel Leslie performs these books - he doesn't just read them... it's delightful.
