Publisher's summary

And they lived happily ever after.... Or did they? In this collection of stories, Chekhov focuses his powers of observation on the complex relationships between men and women. Why do we couple in the first place? s it for love, security, comfort, a sense of obligation? And then what? How long can these reasons keep us together? These questions, and more, are explored with the subtlety and insight of the master story-teller.

This collection includes the following stories: "An Enigmatic Nature", "The Huntsman", "An Avenger", "Bad Weather", and "A Happy Ending."

Critic reviews

Chekhov's stories are as wonderful (and necessary) now as when they first appeared. ( Raymond Carver)

Dark Absurdity, Insightful Humanity

The narration was not at all bad, but does not add anything to the stories. These are all wonderful examples of Chekhov shorts. Each story has a mixture of dark absurdity mixed with insightful humanity. This is only 52 minutes and is only two bucks so not worth a full credit. If the narration was just a bit better this would be one of my favorite short story collections.

The name of the gun shop is "Smucks"

Any additional comments?

A good view into how far our society has evolved. In the ridiculousness of these stories is comedy, especially the middle one, which had me laughing out loud.
