About this listen

The cryosleep chambers are beginning to fail. Surveillance of Hocklyn space has revealed that the Hocklyns are 30 years ahead of their projected schedule and will soon reach human occupied space. War could break out any day if something isn't done.

The human leaders suggest a daring plan to buy them the additional time they need to strengthen the Fleet, as well as the defenses protecting their worlds. A First Strike deep into Hocklyn space might just buy the human worlds the extra time they need to finish their preparations for all out war against the Hocklyn Slave Empire.

For nearly 400 years Admiral Hedon Streth has slept waiting to lead the human race against the evil from the center of the galaxy. Now that time has arrived. Can Hedon and the other sleepers lead Earth and her colony worlds to victory? If Hedon fails then the Earth and her colonies will either be conquered or destroyed by the Hocklyn Slave Empire and their masters the AIs.

Best of the series for space battles.

There is not a dull moment. If you love action and massive space battles, TG this is the one you have been waiting for.

The humans are coming!

The original Federation survivors are woken from Cryo Sleep and given charge of Second Fleet in the war against the Hocklyns. It is believed that the Hocklyns are ahead of predicted discovery of the humans by at least thirty years. The Federation has determined there are six Hocklyn bases within striking distance of their home world. This information is distressing, but it lights a fire under the Federation to prepare and reminds them what is ahead. The Hocklyns have been sending out two ship scouting parties to look for potential enemies. The Federation in response, to the dismay of the Hocklyns, has been destroying those scouting parties, but in so doing has brought attention to their presence. One of these days the Hocklyns are going to discover why their scouts are disappearing and who is doing it. When that happens the hornets’ nest will be kicked and the Hocklyns will be on their way. The successful execution of Operation First Strike will depend upon the outcome of this next battle.

Good story but a bit simplistic

Slightly better writing in this book but he still needs to learn character development and description of emotions through dialogue and better description. The is action pretty well done. Best so far in series

Great book. terrible quality audio

The book had an amazing story, but it had terrible audio quality... Weird bleeping noises vaguely in the background. None of the other previous audio books had this issue.

Wind-up Too Long

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The series good potential, but the plot drags with a lot of redundant space battles and political conflict. The very last paragraph was very good. I guess that's some kind of promise that the next installment will be better. I'm not convinced.
