About this listen

Amelia Elizabeth Walden Book Award for Young Adult Fiction winner, 2010

New Hampshire Great Stone Face Children's Book Award nominee, 2010

New Jersey Garden State Teen Book Award nominee, 2012

She is the last of her kind...It is not a peaceful time in the Dells. In King City, the young King Nash is clinging to the throne, while rebel lords in the north and south build armies to unseat him. War is coming. And the mountains and forest are filled with spies and thieves. This is where Fire lives, a girl whose beauty is impossibly irresistible and who can control the minds of everyone around her.

Exquisitely romantic, this companion to the highly praised Graceling has an entirely new cast of characters, save for one person who plays a pivotal role in both books. You don't need to have read or heard Graceling to love Fire. But if you haven't, you'll be dying to listen to it next.

A Wee Bit Dull

Any additional comments?

I don't know if it was the enormous shoes Fire had to fill or what but this book fell quite flat. The world building is still great and the characters are lovable enough, but the inner struggles of our heroine get a bit repetitive for my liking. I still DEFINITELY RECOMMEND Fire for anyone who wants to continue the Graceling books.

I see the connection but...

it was so hard for me to follow. I sincerely think it had a lot to do with the voice of the reader. I was so confused and struggled to finish this book. but I did for the sake of bitterblue. thanks anyway.

Great characters and realistic plot

Fire is an interesting character in that she is young in years but mature way beyond her years. Yes she can be childish and immature at times, but over all, a great strong female.

Its interesting this book per-dates book 1 of the series but neither book is less because of that fact. both stand on their own.

I like how some of the animals are integral parts to the story and have their own personality. Whether the horses or dog they add to the story and not just an object in the story.

Enjoyable and entertaining story with a strong female lead.

Good Story

Again, great story but , again, had problems with Katsa's accent. Changingfrom a full cast to one narrator was a problem. Turn off.

Fever dream

I think I spent a year listening to this. It was really hard to get through but I bought it so I wanted to power through. The prologue really got me into it but honestly I don’t even know what went on even after re listening to some sections.

Stands fine by itself

I haven't read "Graceling," but I was able to dive into the story with no problem. I found it to be an interesting examination of good and evil, and the idea that both exist in everybody, just in different proportions. With its gorgeous visuals, this story played out like a movie.

Good book

the chapters on audible don't match the book, so I kept losing my place. I liked Graceling better.
