Publisher's summary
From the New York Times bestselling author of the Sisters Grimm and NERDS comes a new action-packed middle-grade series with aliens, robots, and kids saving the world!
“Alien bugs! Laser cannons! Bloodthirsty unicorns! Don’t be surprised if this lunchbox sucks you in, too.”—MAX BRALLIER, New York Times bestselling author of the Last Kids on Earth series
Finn Foley has a lunchbox, and when he opens it, weird things come out . . . like a seven-foot-tall robot and a strange, blinking device that glues itself to his chest. The lunchbox also opens wormholes—shortcuts through space—that take Finn to the farthest corners of the galaxy. Sounds awesome, right?
Not so much. Rocketing through the cosmos attracts the attention of the Plague, a race of gigantic bugs. The thing on Finn's chest belongs to them—it's the most dangerous weapon in the universe—and they want it back.
To fight the Plague, Finn will need the lunchbox, as well as an unlikely squad of assistants: Lincoln, the bully; Julep, the coolest girl in school; Kate, Finn's unicorn-obsessed little sister; and Highbeam, a robot spy from another galaxy. If they can learn to work together, they just might have a chance, but the bugs are coming, and they'll stop at nothing to get their weapon—even if it means destroying the world.
Critic reviews
"Buckley (the Sisters Grimm series) spans the galaxy with this humorous story.... An action-packed romp." (Publishers Weekly)
"Hold onto your butts as Buckley, author of the popular Sisters Grimm and NERDS series, throws his newest adventure into hyperdrive from page one.... Light-speed fun." (Booklist)
"Realistic kids, wild aliens, and unicorns sure to surprise readers add to the fun...if the laughs don't keep the pages turning, the action will." (Kirkus Reviews)

Using a cutting-edge technology called DHI - which stands for both Disney Host Interactive and Daylight Hologram Imaging - Finn Whitman, an Orlando teen, and four other kids are transformed into hologram projections that guide guests through the park. The new technology turns out, however, to have unexpected effects that are both thrilling and scary. Soon Finn finds himself transported in his DHI form into the Magic Kingdom at night. Is it real? Is he dreaming? Finn’s confusion only increases when he encounters Wayne, an elderly Imagineer who tells him that the park is in grave danger.

It is 1940. France has fallen, and only a narrow strip of sea lies between Great Britain and invasion. The war could go either way, and everyone must do their bit. Young copywriter Catrin Cole is drafted into the Ministry of Information to help write women into propaganda films - something that the men aren't very good at. She is quickly seconded to the ministry's latest endeavor: a heartwarming tale of bravery and rescue at Dunkirk. It's all completely fabricated, of course, but what does that matter when the nation's morale is at stake?

Can't wait to share this with my students!
I am an Elementary School Librarian and listened to this book as a preview for purchase. I will definitely purchase this! The characters relatable and we'll developed, even the robot and aliens. The story was well developed and completed, with an appropriate hook at the end for the next book. Can't wait for the sequel! The reason for the 4 stars in the performance was due to the attempt at the female voices-some were a tad annoying.
