About this listen

A pretend relationship. A deadly game. One misstep, and it could mean both of our lives.

I’m just a girl, with dreams too big and hopes verging on hopeless.

I never planned to become his.

Nathan Stone. Fiercely handsome. Powerful.

The pull between us borders on primal.I need to be careful. He’s a dangerous man with even more dangerous enemies.

He took a big gamble, lying to protect me.

Now his future is on the line as much as mine, and we have to keep up this charade. Make it look convincing.

But when his lips touch mine, I taste only truth.

When he pulls me into his arms, it feels like forever.

It can’t just be the ruse and the danger of getting caught.

My heart says this is real....

And I’ll follow him to the ends of the Earth to prove it.

A fabulous rich audio

This is a very different type of story .... you shouldn’t miss this one. The way Lauren writes is fantastic . She loves to try something new , she’s a type breaker . Love how she takes risks and they are always fantastic turnouts . This one is no different.
This story is about two couples that’s why there are four narrators
First is a couple of Nathan and Emma . The second couple is Carly and Kyle .
Both females are best friends and they are loaded , they come from rich families. They don’t care about the richness , the two families are intertwined in more ways then one . Nathan’s father was murdered with his assistant who happened to be Kyle other half with their unborn daughter. That is why Kyle inherited the company. Nathan and Emma meet in Europe .
The story goes back and forth between the two couples.

All four narrators are great . They brought the story to life. They did the characters perfectly. B

A Story all encompassing

This isn’t your average HEA! 4 lives that are intertwined and will thrill and amazed you. Normally multi view stories can be convoluted but it that wasn’t the case with this one. I found myself inevitably drawn to these two tales that do heavily relied on one another. This book was a rollercoster of adventure and it keeps you guessing.

Narration- 2xs the narrators = 2xs the greatness. These outstanding voices make this story a must listen.

Mystery, deceit, danger, hot alpha men, win win.

Five stars doesn’t even begin to show how great this book really is. From the very beginning it pulls you in to the story and takes you on a journey with two couples that are struggling to find peace and truth in a corrupt and dirty world.

Nathan Stone and his brother Caleb are hiding something. The FBI has reason to believe they are dirty with a capital D so Claire, FBI agent gets her sister Emma to go undercover and find out what she can.

Kyle is struggling to breathe. His world has crumbled around him. He doesn’t know how to deal with the small whirlwind that is Carly who has blown into his life but he can’t seem to get rid of her.

This book takes us on a long and winding journey between two couples and other great characters that take us to the edge of danger and pull us back with love and lust. There is Russian mafia and mercs and theater and money and adventure and danger. Lots of mysteries to try and solve and pain to heal. I love every book this author writes and in my opinion this is her best yet and that’s saying a lot. All of her books are great but this one could be a movie. It’s so good.

Now the icing on the delicious cake is the line up of amazing narrators. Lance Greenfield, Carly Robins, J.F. Harding, and Melissa Moran blew me away with the audio book. They did a great job making this story come to life and kept me pulled in from start to finish. I highly recommend this audio.

Loved the narration!

I loved this audio. It has 4 points of view so took a min to introduce the characters and story; once it gets going it’s so good! I loved all the narrators. It’s different having 4 narrators and I really liked that! This book is fun and suspenseful. Not a realistic type of story but a great escape and so good! Something different and loved the 4 points of view!

Suspense and romance at it's best!

I don't even know where to start with this book by Lauren Landish. I am a huge lover of romantic suspense, and this one did not give it to me only once, but twice. Written in 4 points of view, we get two intertwined mysteries with two budding romances, each having all the elements of thrills and passion. Nathan Stone in search of his father's killer. When Emma goes undercover for her FBI sister to find out information on him, their story begins. Carly witnesses Kyle strangling the breath out of a man in an alley, and their attraction begins. These two women are best friends, these two men in search of murderers. Their interconnecting stories lead to mystery and intrigue, much like National Treasure. It's a hunt to the finish, and it's fun, passionate and thrilling. The 4 points of view are concise and easy to keep straight. Nathan is a man with not only looks, but brains and a mission. He is quite the alpha male and does his best to try to keep Emma in line. Emma is a fiercely passionate, falls hard and knows intuitively what she wants. I love her spunk and brains. Carly is the free spirit of the bunch, but when she meets Kyle, she quickly is grounded. I find her realistic with real perseverance. Kyle is achingly sad at times, but I love his awakening to life as he learns to let go of his past. It's a fast paced ride, sure to keep you wondering who the is at the top of this crime chain and invests your heart in the two couples. The perfect listen for me!

Four points of view with four narrators was incredible. And the team chosen is spot on! Lance Greenfield, Carly Robins, J.F. Harding, Melissa Moran give each character the perfect sound and personality. Their voices fit each character. Lance with his deep rasp as Kyle compliments Carly Robins as Carly as JF Harding's smooth sound as business man Nathan seamlessly matches with Melissa Moran's Emma. It's a great listen, perfect for your ears.

besties always make a great story

I enjoyed this book story of a guy mad at the father and the world may be what it's intended to be but I focused on the two besties and thier two roads that lead to one path.
the ladies in this story both grabbed me and I enjoyed thier fierceness to be in the front and center when they found the man they wanted.

I enjoyed the storyline so much the actual steamy scenes as good as they were just seemed like a addition. all the action and drama held my attention and I could actually see this book as a movie.

Fantastic

I was really interested to read a book that was written about two couples intertwined in the story so completely that they each had a main role. I truly enjoyed it. I thought it was well balanced between each character and couple. I also thought the story was interesting and fun to follow. It’s a bit longer but totally worth it and perhaps the most important thing for me was that the story moves.
Listening to the audio was fantastic. The difference between the female narrators was noticeable from the start. I would have known which POV was being read simply by their portrayal. The male narrators took me a few chapters to learn the difference. However, once I did, I could tell the difference not just because of their voice but because I was able to see the characters personalities.

This book is part of a two-pack

This book is part of a two book pack titled Power Play. Thus, for 1 credit, you can get this book and a second book (Scorpio). If you’re thinking about this, get the Power Play 2 pack. Dagnabbit! Wish I’d known that before I hit buy on the daily deal.

Ah well. If you can go with the eyeroll, this is an entertaining romance thriller with two couples whose stories proceed separately until the final two hours. For me, the romance side worked pretty well, the nooky was a tad awkward, and the crime thriller side had tons of implausible plots… but c’mon, you know what the priority of this book is from the cover. This gets as close to mafia romance as I like to go (this is not dark romance, thank goodness).

The level of mouth and naughty is typical for Landish, which means you need to be down for dirty. It felt like the male narrators (esp the voicing for Kyle) were selling a movie trailer (cue Carmina Burana and “in a world filled with darkness, one man would arise…”). I think the over exaggerated voicing combined with the slightly-bdsm themed, extra mouthy nooky, made the steamy parts kind of cringey. This book ended up closer to Landish’s books that worked for me (The Dare) than that didn’t (The Truth).

If you like romance with action and intrigue, I recommend:
📍Titan series by C Haber (first books available in an omnibus and give great military guns-N-amore fun)
📍Prince Charming and King of Code by CD Reiss (more spies and sexy maybe-criminals than military, but adds sexy accents)
📍Scandal Never Sleeps by Shayla Black (if you can embrace the eyeroll, this starts a fun and feisty series, including a later book with an h/H involving P0TUS)
📍Dirty Fairy Tales series by this same author (blends some fairy tale and comic vibes into modern day romances with a book-spanning arc involving a Kingpin style crime boss) This series went down great with me for the best combination of feisty friction between plucky gals and dangerous alphas, action, and humor. Cause I need fun and laughs to suspend disbelief and enjoy the steam.

A wonderfully erotic tale, with lots of action!

This was a complicated, layered story that flowed smoothly. The audiobook was so good.

Nathan and Emma; Kyle and Carly. All fighting their own demons, but fate puts them in one another's paths.

This was an emotional ride. Lots of action, and plenty story to tell. Hopefully, there's another tale after this.
