About this listen

Angry. Wild. Loose cannon.

As one of college hockey's most feared defensemen, I've been told I'm all those things and more. The ice is the only place where I can take my anger out on other people and get applauded for it. The rougher I play, the dirtier I am, the more praise I get.

I suppose the same could be said about me in the bedroom. I'm not the dude you want your daughter bringing home to meet you. Because your angel? Well, I'll make sure her halo is crooked by the time I'm done with her.

I've met my match. The one who won't be so easy to leave behind. And the thing with Bria Collins? She's nobody's angel. But just because she doesn't wear a halo doesn't mean she can handle my darkness.

Brody & Bria’s story, a friends to lovers angsty romance

The narrators are so great at bringing Brody and Bria to life. They connect as friends and share the pain they both have around their fathers. And in Brody’s case his mother. Brody tries to always look like a happy-go-lucky guy but it’s hiding the darkness of his upbringing. They start out as friends but then they start to creep over the lined they made to keep the relationship as a friends-only pact.

It’s full of both angst and beauty. Some moments in the audiobook had me crying my eyes out and this is not the first time I’ve done that when listening to this series! The talent of voice artists Heather Firth and Thomas Oakley is A+!

Ahhh! LOVE!

I loved this book! 4.5 out of 5 stars. I felt all the emotions with this one! Brody and Bria both had traumatic childhoods and after meeting decide to form a pack to get their lives headed in the right direction. Through this pact they become best friends and decide to take their friendship to a friends with benefits relationship. Of course feelings develop, but Brody doesn’t feel he is worthy of being loved. This book made me cry and broke my heart for Brody. Bria wants to show Brody that he is enough. I am loving this series! I did a mix of audio and ebook. Great audio narration especially by male narrator.

Great voice and an amazing story!

This book broke my heart and oddly made me feel so much love for Brody. Everything he's been through in life. I wanted to scoop that little boy up and take him home and love him like he deserved to be loved.

Tropes:
🏒 Hockey Romance
📷 College Students
🏒 Tattooed Bad Boy
📷 Photographer Heroine
🏒 Found Family
📷 Surprise Pregnancy
🏒 Shared Trauma

This book showed so much personal growth between both these characters, but mainly Brody. I have fallen in love with all these books, but saved this one for last because I knew it was going to be a touchy one. I started reading this author last year when I started reading the ARC of Hunter's book. Then the ARC of the Watson's as well. I had to go back and read them all, but had to save Brody & Bria's book for last. I'm glad I did because even though it was heartbreaking for Brody and Bria's past, even trying times through their own journey. It ended up being a beautiful story that I will enjoy reading again and again.

The narration of this book was done so well. Especially Heather who read as Bria in this book. She yelled when needed, and even showed trembling and quivering in her voice when the story said to. She did brilliant at her part. And Thomas Oakley who did the part as Brody was done well, also. His voice sounded just as charming and sexy as I pictured Brody to have.

This is a must read book and listen. No matter how you read this book through pages or on Audible, it is a beautiful story. One that I will recommend to anyone. What a beautiful story in general, but definitely well done by these two on Audible. Hannah Gray is an anachronism author!

Brody!

I really loved Brody and Bria! They were fun, sexy and sweet! Friends to lovers is always hit or miss for me, but I love how HG played out their story.

PHENOMENAL story AND performance!!

Just WOW!!! A simply outstanding book that easily became a favorite sports romance ever!! It’s a hockey romance about 2 broken people with a deep emotional storyline that takes you on quite the journey with these friends turned lovers. I was feeling all the feels including laughing at their banter, my heart swelling at the most thoughtful moments and even shedding some tears…multiple times! This book lives up to its hype ten times over and is so much better than anything I expected! If you're looking for a sports romance that hurts in the best way, this is a must read!!!

💔Trauma Bonding

Brody & Bria. These two broken friends might have a slow burn as they become lovers but it developed so naturally and fit their character development perfectly! You watch them build up such an emotional connection that creates a strong bond between them first which I absolutely LOVED! But when their friendship crosses that line…that spice is on fire!!!

AUDIO REVIEW:
This might be my favorite performance yet from Heather Firth and Thomas Oakley! The passion they displayed in this narration was beyond amazing!!! If you think this book is emotional eyeball reading, listen to the audio! These two just bring the story to LIFE with their performance and have you feeling the emotion in your bones! First, there is Heather who already has so much emotion in her tone as she speaks, but her male voice for Brody was next level and so powerful! This woman could narrate a dual POV book all on her own, I am in love with her voice that much! Then there is Thomas. WOW. He had me breaking so many times as I could feel the sadness and heartbreak in his voice for Brody. This man truly had me feeling as if Brody was speaking and reliving all of that trauma. At the same time, he did a phenomenal job switching his tone for all the light and heartwarming moments for Brody as well! Overall, this audiobook is a top notch performance that truly elevates the story and breathes life into it! I can easily say I will be listening to it again soon already!!

Emotional Hockey Romance, Yes Please

Ohhh my heart what a sweet, emotional story, I don’t feel like I say that enough for a hockey romance but dang this book had me in tears.
Brody and Bria both at Brooks University begin a strong friendship, sharing stories of their past as well as their future goals and when things begin to go deep they share the trauma they both have experienced. Bria deals with loss and guilt while Brody holds on heavily to the devastating childhood he had to endure. I definitely understand why it was called Filthy boy, but dang Bria and Brody were both Broken, and when they connected, it was so special to understand that they both needed this friendship. I really appreciated Bria for her strength in being open and honest towards the sadness she carried as well as when her feelings began to get deeper for Brody, I loved seeing their friendship grow and how they could truly be there for one another. She took a negative in her life and although she struggled and had moments of weakness she was mature enough to know when she needed to change the lifestyle she was living and take charge of herself again in a positive way. Brody’s story was hard to listen to, it was sad and heartbreaking to hear the pain he went through as a child and the demons he continued to carry. Just when he thought that was the only life he was dealt, he took charge and stepped up to be an amazing man. The friendship group in this series is freaking epic! I just loved all of them and the family they have grown to be.
Heather Firth & Thomas Oakley narrate this in dual and once again do an incredible job bringing these two characters to life, Their narration had me holding back tears and bringing out all the emotions for what Bria and Brody have gone through and are still navagating. They also had me laughing at Brody’s silly antics and the way Bria would sarcasticly respond to him, the whittiness in this book was also fun to listen to. Filthy Boy was an emotional and spicy book and those are two things I love in a hockey romance as well as the healing journey and what a beautiful process it was.
