About this listen

Meet five women with empty arms. Lexie is only 15 and already facing one of the toughest choices of her life - whether or not to keep the baby no one knows she's carrying. Kathryn, Lexie's mother, has already lost her husband. Will she lose her wayward daughter, too? Reena, an elderly woman who lives in the heart of Cincinnati, is widowed with grown children who live in other states. She knows the pain of empty arms, as well.

And then there's Grace, a young woman from Florida, who has been trying (unsuccessfully) to have a baby. She and her husband wonder if they will ever hold a baby in their arms. Finally, Joanna, a successful businesswoman who seems to have it all, struggles with the agony of an empty heart, due to a secret she has carried for over 20 years.

When the lives of these five women intersect, they are forever changed. Lives are transformed. Hope is restored. Arms, once empty, are filled.

From multi-published Christian author Janice Thompson comes an inspirational novel with great depth of character, dealing with sensitive topics for women ages 14 and up.

This book might have been good but....

The narrator ruined this book. Her reading of scenes sounded like she was reading to first graders. When she read in voices some of them were very Whiney and irritating. I will make sure I do not read any more books narrated by this person. The story had some merit and life lessons but I found it hard to finish.

Worst Reader in the history of readers

I honestly can't say much about the story – it was so hard to get around the horrendous narration. It was actually almost physically painful and I can't believe I suffered through the whole book. This poor woman sounds like a very remedial reader struggling through a class project. Her cadence and phrasing is stilted at best. At some points instead of reading a sentence it sounded as if she were reading a list of words. The voices that she tried to do were horrible – and not appropriate to the characters at all. It was truly the most painful, awful listening experience I have ever had. I turned it off and determined not to listen to it anymore at least 20 times, all the while mumbling and rolling my eyes because it was that bad. I think sheer stubbornness made me push through it. Sad to say it only got worse as it went on. She really has absolutely no business reading these books for others to listen to. I'm not trying to be unkind, but it was truly unbelievably horrid.

Couldn't read it.

The story might have been ok but I couldn't bear the narrator's whiney complaining delivery.
