Acerca de esta escucha

WHY? The most important questions anyone can ask are: Why was Jesus Christ crucified? Why did he suffer so much? What has this to do with me? Finally, who sent him to his death? The answer to the last question is that God did. Jesus was God's Son.

The suffering was unsurpassed, but the whole message of the Bible leads to this answer. The central issue of Jesus' death is not the cause, but the meaning - God's meaning. That is what this book is about. John Piper has gathered from the New Testament 50 reasons. Not 50 causes, but 50 purposes - in answer to the most important question that each of us must face: What did God achieve for sinners like us in sending his Son to die?

This book is an excellent book to read at any time, but particularly at Easter. It is a wonderful reminder of what Jesus accomplished and why he gave his life. I listen to this book every year. My heart overflows with joy on resurrection Sunday!

Good Reminders

I enjoyed listening to this book. 50 quick points about why Jesus came to sacrifice Himself to us and how that is significant to us. There were several things in here I haven't thought very hard about and I will meditate on them. I also liked the prayer at the end. Worth the time to listen/read.

Good little book about Jesus' death and it's significance for us.

Would you try another book from John Piper and/or Robertson Dean?

Everyone has said John Piper is a great author, so I am trying his stuff out. Unfortunately, I am not a fan yet. I am listening to another book of his, "Don't Waste Your Cancer", which I've only listened to maybe 10 minutes or so, but it seems a lot more interesting. SO we will see if I'l become a Piper fan. SO many people I know are so I imagine I'll like him too!

Would you recommend Fifty Reasons Why Jesus Came to Die to your friends? Why or why not?

I wouldn't recommend this book, maybe if it were read by someone different. But the way it is now, it was hard to get interested and excited and stay focused on the reading. I feel like I didn't get much out of it.

What didn’t you like about Robertson Dean’s performance?

Robertson Dean's voice was too monotone and boring. It had no life in it which in turn didn't keep my focus and therefore I didn't get much out of the book.

Could you see Fifty Reasons Why Jesus Came to Die being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No, most definitely not!

Any additional comments?

Have someone with more life and personality in their voice read it and the book would probably be better.
