part of the Slated series
This was a prequel to the Slated trilogy. Despite having just finished that series, I was surprised by this compelling story. I basically knew what was going to happen, but was delighted by each turn.

I do love this trilogy.
Even as an adult, I feel it resonates as a 1984 for teens. I wonder if they would feel that way about it if they had no frame of reference, having never read 1984, Fahrenheit 451 or Brave New World?
Who knows? But these books give me that feeling.
