Publisher's summary

Reunited, and it feels better than good....

It was a long time ago, but Luke will never forget Jason Delancey and their first kiss under the bleachers of football practice. Now, 20 years later, he has a lot more to focus on than the one man who got away. Divorced with a seven-year-old son and a vicious lawsuit against the Silver Oak Medical Center to deal with, Luke has no time for reminiscent feelings of the past.

When Jason walks back into his life as the attorney on the case, all of those old emotions and desires come tumbling forth. But when Luke's overprotective brothers try to get in the way of a reunion between the long-lost lovers, it's up to Jason and Luke to fight for what they couldn't have so long ago. And the fight is harder than they ever imagined as they go up against Luke's family and a lawsuit that's determined to destroy them.

With their future family on the line, can these two finally overcome family law and retrieve the love they were destined to find?

Sweet with a little suspense

I really enjoyed this book. The narrator does a wonderful job. The characters go through struggles which make them life-like and likable. I liked how the characters grew through the course of the book.

I am hooked on this series

I wish I could write a review as well as the ones that precede this one by the previous reviewer's under the "Book Review Page" Mr. Bate's has out done himself with this series. The depth of the character development is outstanding, they are so realistic, the plot/story line is so authentic; it's like something you would expect to read in the news paper's or hear on the radio or the tv news. I was hooked from the first few pages of the book and even more by the narration by Mr. Loan. His crisp clear voice made for easy listening and real enjoyment of the over all story. I would highly recommend this series of books/Audible series to anyone who wants to be swept away into a realistic adventure full of drama, twists, turns, love and of course sex. An avid reader/listener in Rock Tavern, NY.

Okay, I LOVE this one!

Like, really, really love it :P

The storyline is full of suspense and intrigue, the characters are fantastic, and the romance, oh! the romance is perfect in its imperfection!

Luke is such a great character! He's strong, hard-working, responsible beyond his due and dedicated to his son. And yet, he is convinced that he can't trust his judgment. I can understand why he thinks this. It enrages me, yes, but I can see from where he is coming. Abussive ex, a family less than supportive (and more than a bit abussive, too) can do this to any person. Adding that he is, to all effects, a single father, well... he doesn't have it easy.

I adore how Jason understand this, and does his best to support him withour taking Luke's agency. To be there for Luke and Caleb without being overbearing. Patient and loving, all the time.

Their romance is rooted in the past, but it is in the present when it flourish and becomes real. It's beautiful.

And the whole cult thing was really well presented and creates a very compelling storyline.

Without hesitation, this is, so far, my favourite on the series.

And David Loan did a superb job with the narration.

It Takes a Village to Save a Child

Family Law is an intense story, with the sharpest edges only slightly dulled. It explores the rights of divorced spouses, the responsibilities of the child guardian parent, and the consequences of being the parent with less legal standing.

An innocent child, kidnapped to make a point by the local religious faction, is thrown into a life that he did not want. Old enough to know that he was taken from his family, he was punished by the couple who illegally "adopted" him when he insisted his dads would come for him. The boy's childlike faith in his family kept him rebelling against his captors.

Silver Oak Medical Center is a safe place to recover and heal, and has legal counsel available for those patients who need it.

Family law is at the heart of this story as the characters try to twist the law for their own purposes. Various aspects of law enforcement work together to find the kidnapped child, and place him in a safe environment.

Narrator David Loan leads his audience through the fear, terror, depression, anguish, and villainy the characters display. Despite the tension of the story, it does have a satisfying HEA.

Luke & Jason

MM, Alpha/Omega. Luke has a wonderful job and a beautiful son, Caleb. His brothers took them in after his divorce from an often abuse and alcoholic husband. I wanted to smack his brothers though. They are emotionally abuse and take advantage of Luke in every way. He has lived with this treatment his whole life and seems to listen to them that everything is his fault. Jason is now a lawyer and very different from when they knew each other in school. Jason is surprised and very happy to meet Luke again. If only he can convince Luke to live his life they way he wants and not what others want him to do. The hospital is also besieged by a fanatic religious group throwing Luke, Jason, and Caleb into the fray.

Second chances and dogs

Another wonderful story centered around Silver Oak Medical Center. This story is fast paced and had me on the edge of my seat at times. Luke and Jason are given a second chance but they have to deal with Luke's brothers and Luke's ex husband. Not to mention fanatical protesters at the hospital.
Narrator David Loan does a wonderful job.

Great story

Another great story from Aiden Bates. I first read this when it came out and just now listened to the audio. I forgot in the time how much I dislike Luke’s brothers but it’s not a story killer. The narration is ok. It can be a bit stilted, especially during the parts that aren’t a character speaking.
