About this listen

He’s stopped Earth’s most fearsome threats before. Now he’ll discover that the greatest danger lies within....

The world is in an uproar since the events of the Escabana Bombings. After defeating Doomsayer and his Harbingers, Tristan Davids and his friends must deal with the aftermath of their explosive showdown: the discovery of metamorphs, a deadly new villain, and a world that now views them as potential threats.

It’s not long before the team becomes the target of the US military, and they’ll need to put their lives in the hands of an old enemy in order to survive. To make matters worse, Tristan’s growing powers have become unmanageable, leading the young metamorph down a dark journey to uncover the truth behind his family’s mysterious past.

With each twist and turn, Tristan’s convictions will be put to the test, and he’ll be forced to answer a question he never thought he’d ask: Is Tristan sure he’s on the right side?

What happened?

I continue to enjoy this series, but I was very disappointed in the change of voice actor as well as the mistakes made by the actor which were left in: He occasionally mispronounced a word, stuttered, gulped, misspoke, left an unnecessary pause as though he'd lost his place, etc. I was also put off by his choice of accents for characters that hadn't been in place previously, nor had it been mentioned by the author that a character needed an accent. Mr. Peters' accent was especially off-putting; like an embellished Beatle impersonation. Gabriel sometimes had an almost African or Egyptian lilt but other times just the American accent.

Besides the mistakes, perhaps the accents being just the actor's choice, is enough of an explanation. A lot of characters hail from all over the globe, yet the actor for the previous books didn't do many accents.

I just felt it kind of jarring when the mistakes and inconsistent voices/accents interrupt the flow.

Aside from all of this negativity, I do respect the voice actor and recognize it's not easy to cover such a large cast of characters with so many vocal attributes. It would take multiple voice actors to accurately and completely please all audience members. For one actor to try to accomplish this is bravery in and of itself. I gave three stars but perhaps I should be criticizing the director and/or sound techs for not catching and fixing the errors. The only fault of the actor is perhaps not insisting on more feedback, guidance, and direction from the production team.

I'm disappointed that the author chose to use what is basically a mimick of the X-Men Phoenix saga through Tristan and the Sentinel program.

Wow, I sound like a hateful, highly critical jerk. I apologize. I think what I've said it at least mostly accurate, and I try to be honest, but I hate it when people are needlessly mean. I have future aspirations in this field so perhaps I pick up on things like this so I can try to better prepare for my own future endeavors. What you all do is awesome. It's too easy for the listeners to be critical. Be well and keep an open mind, but don't let some guy who paid for an audible credit ruin your day.

This series was well written a very imaginative.

The voiceover was horrible and it made it extremely difficult to listen…… ps the first two books in the series had a much better voiceover.
