Publisher's summary
Colton Crowne is famous for two things: being one of the music industry’s most talented producers and partying away his massive inheritance.
I’m a singer with stage fright who’s famous for…well…nothing yet. And I promised my family if I didn’t make it big by the end of this year, I’d go back to med school.
My agent thinks Colton and I would be a great team both in the studio, and outside of it—especially if label executives think we’re dating.
The rules? We can kiss in public, but not in private.
We can act like we’re doing the deed, as long as we’re not.
And as far as having actual feelings for each other goes…that’s obviously out of the question.
But after so many late nights in the studio and a bunch of stolen kisses, I start to see beyond his party boy facade to something real underneath. And he believes in me–with his coaching and encouragement, I’m finally overcoming my anxiety and giving the best performances of my life.
If only time wasn’t running out so fast.
Then Colton has an idea to keep us together. It’s terrible, but it’s the only way.
How can I let him destroy everything he’s worked for just to make me happy?
Includes: Hero with a heart of gold, stolen kisses, surprising chivalry, private stuff in a public bathroom, swank parties, grinding it out, stolen glances, and Momma Crowne setting her boy straight.

Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Story
After watching my mother succumb to a mysterious illness, I promised myself two things. I'd find the cure for what ravaged her and leave the godforsaken city where she abandoned me. Four years later, I received an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before, those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores. And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity.

Hockey coach Ashley Jaswal doesn't take nonsense from anyone … except her overbearing and superstitious family. They believe she's a good luck charm for her brother Jas, the newest Vancouver Canucks draft pick, forcing Ash to attend all his games as he rises up the NHL ranks, sacrificing her personal life (not that she has one—who decided hockey season needed to be 10 months long anyway?). Ash also clashes with Jas’s teammate, Canucks captain Devin Snyder.

The fifth Crowne!
Colton, the black sheep of the Crowne family, finally gets his story. He’s definitely the poor rich dude and sexy AF. He’s one of six and his siblings are all pretty successful so compared to them, he’s kinda a screw up. Then there’s Skye with all her talent and issues. They start a fake relationship with rules that are promptly broken by both. And in the process of trying to find success in their chosen careers, they help each other overcome obstacles both real and imagined and become better versions of themselves.
I read the story and it’s good but this audiobook takes the story to another level as both narrators are exceptional in their roles. Andi Arndt sings! Her voice is beautiful and she was the perfect Skye. Joe Arden was also perfect as Colton. He’s always able to bring out the emotions of the characters and it never fails to hit me right in the feels.

I Love Colton
I was so excited to start this series when the Fake Crown came out and I finished all of the 4 Crowne brothers in 3 days. When your Friday starts out with Andi Arndt crooning in my ears joined by the amazing Joe Arden as Colton I know it’s going to be a great start to my weekend. Colton and Sky are such a great combo and what a great storyline. I weeped for the last 2 chapters but in a good way. I feel like I need an Andi Arndt album after this audio, she is an incredible Sky. CD Reiss did it again and now; of course, I want more and can’t wait to hear all about Lyric’s drama.

Another complicated Crowne brother.
I am a huge fan of CD Reiss and The Crowne Brothers series is a favorite. This is the story of the younger brother Colton and Skye, a struggling singer. Both of these characters struggle with self-confidence, and question their abilities and their paths in life. Skye also suffers from stage fright and is not necessarily encouraged in her music journey by her parents. Colton has a history with a former girlfriend/singer and now he questions his abilities and makes some questionable choices.
Their fake relationship didn't stay fake for long and both are more willing to support the other and see their strengths than to see their own. The chemistry is there from the get go but neither wants to let down their guard long enough to let themselves admit to their growing feelings.
Andi Arndt and Joe Arden are each incredible in their own right, and pairing them together elevates this audiobook to a 5 star listen. They embodied these characters perfectly and kept me engaged from page one.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️
This. Book. I am a massive audiobook lover and this surprise audio release was EVERYTHING and more. Joe and Andi were incredible! Every emotion the author meant to relay flowed off these narrators tongues which supported a fully immersive experience.
The story is amazing! Super original take on the classic “girl moves to Hollywood to sing” trope mixed with delicious steam and heart. I devoured this entire audiobook in a single day… I’m a gifted multi-tasker. 5 STARS!!!!!

Love wins!
I read this in audio and loved the narrators. The characters seemed to very down on themselves and while both are very skilled, cannot see past their weaknesses. They see the beauty and skills of the other and set out on a brief journey to be dating for the public eye only. Over time their fake relationship becomes full of feelings. Love and inadequacy. Walking away is easier than fighting to stay. But the fight is totally worth it and love wins!

Who knew Andi Arndt could sing like a songbird?
Colton and Skye’s story wasn’t quite what I was expecting since it’s the most PG story I have read by this author but the characters and the anxiety Skye suffers from had me intrigued. More alike than they could possibly imagine Colt and Skye have suffered from the expectations of family members and have chosen to believe the hype and live their lives accordingly. I liked both characters and could understand their indecisiveness but it took so long for them to change their mindset it drove me nuts. I had great empathy for Skye’s anxiety issues and I could definitely relate to her inability to choose a life path especially when she hears her mother’s voice in her head all the time. Instead of supporting her daughter’s dreams her mother insinuates that Skye’s life will begin when Skye is willing to shatter her dreams and it made me so furious on Skye’s behalf. Colton pretends he’s content with being the party boy but my heart ached for the hopelessness he feels after his talent was maligned and I was disappointed that his family seems content to let him wallow. While I vastly prefer CD Reiss’s poetically descriptive writing style and I struggled with Colton and Skye’s indecision throughout their story the stellar narration performances of Andi Arndt and Joe Arden perfectly captured the complexity of these characters. And who knew Andi could sing like a songbird? Joe Arden was impressive as he pretended to not be able to carry a tune and I loved their emotional and theatrical performances.

Colton's Story!
This is the fourth book in The Crowne Brothers Series. I read it, and loved it. The audiobook version is amazing! Colton and Skye's fake relationship is beautifully written, sweet, emotional, passionate, and engaging. Colton is handsome, kind, smart, and enigmatic. Skye is lovely, talented, and determined. They are both complex, and well developed characters. They complement each other. I liked their slow burn romance. Colton's siblings are interesting side characters, and I would love to know more about them. Andi Arndt and Joe Arden did an excellent job bringing this story to life. They are perfect as Colton and Skye. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to the first three books in the series.
