Story
Reverend Augustus Shackleford's mission in life (aside from ensuring the collection box was suitably full every Sunday) was to secure advantageous marriages for each of his eight daughters. A tall order, given the fact that in the Reverend's opinion they didn't possess a single ladylike bone in the eight bodies they had between them. Quite where he would find a wealthy titled gentleman bottle headed enough to take any of them on remained a mystery and indeed was likely to test even his legendary resourcefulness.

Story
Determined to locate a kidnapped dog, Michael Bromley, Duke of Woriton, isn’t thrilled to be saddled with a flighty female insisting on helping, except that Bitsy has a great deal more sense than he expected—and a sharp tongue to match. Still, what’s a scientist to do but continue to pursue an outcome, however unexpected it may be? But chemistry is all about attraction, and this is one formula with some hilariously romantic results.

It was supposed to be the best day of my life. But the second I got up, things started to fall apart. The kitchen just caught on fire. Flowers were from a funeral. My bride-to-be just had an allergic reaction, leaving by ambulance. Oh, and my ex-girlfriend just walked into the church. They say you have to see the signs when they are right in front of you. Maybe she was just mine to have.

A clever and well-plotted Regency Romance
- By Hope on 09-17-15
By: Jodi Taylor
Publisher's summary
In this funny romantic series, the Shackleford sisters descend on a Regency society that doesn't know what's hit it…
When Faith Shackleford found herself in the unenviable position of having to accompany her irascible father to convalesce in the genteel seaside town of Torquay, she envisioned three months of wearying monotony.
She certainly wasn't expecting to be intrigued by the forlorn empty house situated next to their own elegant villa, especially when she discovered it belonged to a handsome captain in the Royal Navy who was currently away at sea.
Unfortunately, she never imagined that fascination might cost her her life.
Roan Carew grew up an orphan on the streets of Torquay, until he was press ganged into the Royal Navy at eleven. Through a combination of determination, shrewdness and sheer bloody mindedness he rose to the rank of Captain, but he was certainly no gentleman nor ever would be. Indeed, his purchase of Redstone House, a rundown mansion in Torquay's wealthiest district was more of an impulse than an aspiration towards respectability.
He most certainly did not expect the house to come with a thirty-year-old secret that someone was prepared to commit murder to protect.
Naturally Reverend Shackleford, who it was generally agreed would be "in if he fell in," simply had to investigate…
Perfect for fans of funny, lighthearted Regency Romances with a little bit of steam.

Story
Lady Clarissa Crambray wanted a husband, but maybe not as much as her stepmother wanted one for her. Really! Doffing her spectacles might make a girl prettier, but how would she see? She'd already caused enough mayhem to earn a rather horrible nickname. Yet as all other suitors seemed to shy away in terror, there came a man to lead her to the dance floor. A dark, handsome, blur of a man.

Story
Written in the then fashionable style form of letters between the characters in the book, Jane Austen tells the story of the beautiful widow Lady Susan. Lady Susan has an eye toward re-marrying well, and marrying off her teenage daughter. To achieve her objectives, she spins a tale of Victorian humor and manipulation. In the end, she outsmarts even herself. Jane Austen's earliest known serious work, Lady Susan is a short, epistolary novel that portrays a woman bent on the exercise of her own powerful mind and personality to the point of social self-destruction.

She still lives at home with her father—an eccentric retired Admiral who she considers reckless, irresponsible, and totally incapable of looking after himself. Her father on the other hand thinks Victory is a boring nagging harpy with no imagination or sense of adventure and what's more, he's determined to get her married off. Unfortunately there's no one in the picturesque yachting town of Dartmouth that Tory is remotely interested in, despite her father's best efforts.

Worst narration I have ever heard.
The series of the Shackleford Sister is a typical romance in the style of The Bridgertons. Unfortunately, as the series goes on, it becomes a dull, poorly narrated, sorry story. The narration is horrible. It is so bad, it's difficult to follow the characters of the book. One more thing that bothered me is the constant repetition of phrases from the characters. I'm sorry this is not as good as the first in the series.

Ok but
Ok Love story because of the constant interaction and recognized attraction BUT I never felt the connection.
Also, the mystery was confusing. & had one MAJOR flaw. During Regency England, Even recognized Illegitimate offspring nor their children could inherit titles or entailed property (property that, by law, passed to the next legitimate male heir).. Ever. So that leaves the motive for the entire deception (& book) null and void.
Finakly I hated the female voice the male narrator used for the FMC, it was grating.
can't recommend this one but book1&2 were good.

Rusty Guts
So far this one has been my favorite because I love a good mystery.
And I loved every time Faith said Rusty Guts! I still can’t stop laughing .
However, I am not a fan of two narrator’s. I have listened to books where the male voice ONLY does the male characters and the female voice ONLY does the female characters. But this one is not like that. I can’t stand listening to a man do a women’s voice. It’s like nails on a chalkboard for me. And the fact that each one was doing both did make it sometimes confusing.

Male narration of female voices is terrible.
Male narration of female characters is terrible. I quit listening because of this and didn’t finish the book. If the same male narrator was used on the other books, I won’t be listening to them either.

Awful male narrator, nice story
Find a new male narrator. He is absolutely awful and ruins the story. Read the book and I think it will be enjoyable.

Entertaining Read
The characters come to life with this audio version. The mystery was well conceived and keeps the reader entertained. I'm looking forward to the next book.

endearing characters
this is book 3 and I am vetted to completing the series. i enjoy the stories, their an easy and quick listen. The characters are the best, especially the vicar and his "subordinate". Hilarlious! the only i do not care for is the inconsistency with the reader's voices of each character. i'd almost prefer no change in innotation than than the significant change in voice for a given character. it diminshes the quality a bit but luckily the story line overcomes the flaw.

Best one yet!
I loved the first two, but this one is my favorite so far! Mystery and a romance! A really fun read!

better than 1st 2
I did enjoy the 1st 2 books, however they were too similar in how the girls met and married their husband. I decided to listen to the 3rd and if it was basically the same story line I was not going to finish book 3. Well I finished book 3, it was enjoyable, a nice mystery even though it was easy to predict who Faith was going to marry. not to give anything away but a few twists in the story line were unexpected and made the story more exciting and enjoyable. A few tiresome lines that the author repeated way to often, was everyone always seemed to almost have an apleplixy. a more creative way to express this would be appreciated. One other small detail that can be over looked but still, Freddy the dog seemed to be able to tell time! Hearing Freddy's thoughts, which is cool, but he said that he waited there for 10 minutes... other than that, I am looking fwd to book 4 and again hoping to have a new story line for this next marriage of Mr Shsleford's daughter Hope.
