From advertising to social media, from trauma survival to keeping up with the Joneses, shame is deeply embedded in our culture and our psyches, directing much of our behavior from far behind the scenes. But is all shame bad?

Popular author and speaker Fr. Stephen Freeman explores the roots and meaning of both toxic and healthy shame, revealing the crucial importance of this understanding for our relationship with God.

best book on approaching God that I've ever read

An amazing way to begin a journey to opening ones heart to removing that which stands in the way of communion with God and each other

Will take time and repetition

To assimilate. So much here to unpack in the Scriptures. And yet It was like listening to a wise and loving friend. I highly recommend Fr Stephen’s blog as well. Glory to God!

Finally; perspective of shame and its role in a healthy life.

I found deep gratitude in this work on shame. Its role in as an unhealthy toxic life and its role in a life that is turned towards Christ and the beauty of seeing oneself through His deep love.

A Drink of Living Water (John 4:11)

This unabridged recording is presented and read by the author like a genuine conversation, with the tone of someone who actually cares about the unknown listener and their shame. Presented like a compendium of secular wisdom, the content of this narration is offered in a pattern that causes the listener to form, find, and bear their shame while giving them tools to move forward beyond the end of the book. I thank God for the well of wisdom that is Fr.Stephen and the bridge this book forms between what I am and what I am called to become.
thank you
