Interesting & fun concept!

So, I really would have liked this to delve deeper into tradwife culture but I think it is the first thriller I know of to use it, so it’s a start! I loved the first half but felt the second half was a little all over the place and the voices for the men were hard to take seriously. Overall, a fun listen if you enjoy studying/critiquing influencer culture.

I couldn’t wait for this story to come out!

This book did not disappoint. I could not stop listening to it from beginning to end. The story and performance was engaging and witty.

Narration was great and the story was different and intriguing. I am a sucker for an influencer trope and this definitely delivered.

Excellent thriller!

This book is a compelling thriller, and the narration is outstanding! The story revolves around women’s friendships and trust—vital for pushing the story forward and bringing it to a resolution. The characters are well drawn, the story nuanced, and the audio presentation kept me riveted from beginning to end.

Slow-burn

3.5 Stars – A Slow-Burn with Sharp Edges


Everyone Is Lying to You had a compelling concept that initially pulled me in a domestic suspense wrapped in Stepford vibes with a darkly glossy finish. Jo Piazza paints a picture of picture perfect suburbia with the crackling undercurrent of something sinister, but unfortunately, the story often gets bogged down in filler and pacing issues.


The first half felt sluggish, filled with repetitive observations and domestic minutiae that didn’t always add to the tension or mystery. I found myself waiting for the plot to kick into high gear. When it did start to unravel, there were definitely twists I didn’t see coming, and I appreciated the feminist undertones that tried to subvert the “trad wife” culture. There’s clever social commentary buried in the satire but it occasionally got lost in the slow build.


This was my first time reading Jo Piazza, and while this particular book didn’t fully land for me, I can see her strengths in tone and voice. I’d absolutely pick up another one of her books to see what else she can do with a tighter plot and faster pacing.


If you enjoy stories that blend domestic thriller with dark humor and don’t mind a slow-burn structure, this might work better for you. But go in expecting more simmer than boil

Didn't Expect That!

thought I'd had the mystery figured out and was a bit disappointed that it seemed too easy. I never saw the true ending coming! great book from a new favorite author!

So good

I really enjoyed this book! The storyline was really good. The narrators were great. I listened to the entire thing in one day!

Patriarchy Down

I loved the dialogue in the book and the internal conversations of the characters. I liked the deep dive into the world of trad wives and online influencers. The epilogue was epic! It was a fun summer read and just the mental break that I needed.
