About this listen
"In the days ahead, you will either be a mystic or nothing at all." (Karl Rahner)
Join Fr. Anthony Ciorra, of the world’s leading living experts on Christian spirituality, to find the mystic inside you.
Find God in the midst of daily life through this powerful course. These inspiring lectures will give you a deeper understanding of the mystical experience. In particular, you will explore one form of mysticism: "everyday mysticism," as it was called by 20th-century theologian Karl Rahner.
As Fr. Ciorra demonstrates, we are called not to be extraordinary mystics but extraordinary human beings who experience God in ordinary ways. We often think of mystics as superhuman persons who have paranormal experiences such as visions, ecstasy, and stigmata. When you look closely at such saints as Thérèse of Lisieux, however, you will see that to be a mystic is to occupy the core of human experience. As you explore the mystical writings of such inspiring figures, you will discover that there are both common threads and clear differences. In doing so you will see how God is a mystery who can never be fully defined.
Fr. Ciorra's presentations will lead you to a deeper appreciation of how you are already a mystic. Discover your own inner mysticism today in this inspiring yet practical course.

The path of following Jesus is an ancient and storied spiritual tradition. Yet many believers are not familiar with the three major forms of prayer and the three stages of spiritual growth that exist to bring them closer to God. In his most personal book yet, Brant Pitre, PhD, draws on the riches of the Bible, the words of Jesus, and the writings of mystics across the centuries to shed light on the mystery - and wonder - of the spiritual life.

Story
Over the past hundred years, scholars have attacked the historical truth of the Gospels and argued that they were originally anonymous and filled with contradictions. In The Case for Jesus, Brant Pitre taps in to the wells of Christian scripture, history, and tradition to ask and answer a number of different questions, including: If we don't know who wrote the Gospels, how can we trust them? How are the four Gospels different from other Gospels, such as the lost Gospel of "Q" and the Gospel of Thomas?

Francis of Assisi is one of the most beloved of all saints. Both traditional and entirely revolutionary, he was a paradox. He was at once down-to-earth and reaching toward heaven, grounded in the rich history of the Church while moving toward a new understanding of the world beyond. Franciscan Father Richard Rohr helps us look beyond the birdbath image of the saint to remind us of the long tradition founded on Francis' revolutionary, radical, and life-changing embrace of the teachings of Jesus.

A monk and theologian, Cassian made the Christian tradition relevant for the needs of his day in his spiritual works. Indeed, his spirituality remains essential today; he influenced Saints Benedict and Ignatius of Loyola, and his works continue to be read worldwide.

The Story of a Soul conveys St. Therese of Lisieux's "Little Way" of spiritual childhood - her "elevator" to Heaven, as she called it. This method was approved by Pope Pius XI as a way for all to grow in holiness through unfailing confidence and childlike delight in God's merciful love. Again and again in this audiobook, St. Therese shows us how her "Little Way" of love and trust comes straight from Sacred Scripture.

Story
In the first half of life, we are naturally preoccupied with establishing ourselves; climbing, achieving, and performing. But as we grow older and encounter challenges and mistakes, we need to see ourselves in a different and more life-giving way. This message of falling down - that is in fact moving upward - is the most resisted and counterintuitive of messages in the world's religions. Falling Upward offers a new paradigm for understanding one of the most profound of life's mysteries: how those who have fallen down are the only ones who understand "up".

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
The 10 enlightening (and often humorous) lectures of Medieval Myths and Mysteries will show you how far from the “dark” times of legend these centuries were. Uncover the facts about the Knights Templar. Reveal the truth behind the tales of legendary creatures like the Questing Beast and the unicorn. Trace the events of the Black Death and the ways it altered the world in its wake, and much more. With Professor Armstrong, you will dig deep into the ways that later generations reshaped the narrative of the medieval years and perpetuated the myths.

Food for thought for your spiritual journey!
This was a wonderful presentation on the bliss of accessing the Infinite, the Other...if you are a person who's recovering from formal religion, do not be put off by the simple fact of Ciorra's use of "traditional" elements in the material...it's an organic whole, a true and fresh meditation. Absolutely recommended!

Profound Reflections from a True Teacher
Fr. Ciorra is one of those people who was born to teach. He distills ageless wisdom into understandable bites that directly apply to your everyday life. Listening to this program was soothing and gave me much needed time for reflection during a turbulent time.

Insightful and practical
I've listened to several of Fr. Ciorra's courses and retreats by Learn25. This is one of his very best. In this series, Ciorra unpacks mysticism, demonstrating its relevance to Christian faith in general and to our individual lives. His presentation style is warm and inviting by also information-packed and well supported by his command of many sources. I highly recommend this series.
