About this listen

Guilt Kept Them Apart

It's been five years since Lady Jennette Selby's fiancé died. Each courting season since has been filled with suitors eager to win her affection. But Jennette's guilt has prompted her to swear off marriage. For her secrets are as dark as she is beautiful, and the accidental death of her fiancé was tainted by a forbidden attraction…

Passion Brought Them Together

Matthew Harris, the new earl of Blackburn, has been scorned by the ton for unintentionally killing Lady Jennette's fiancé. Forced to sell his estates and abandon his tenants if he does not marry a wealthy, respectable woman, Matthew turns to Lady Jennette to help him find a suitable wife. But sharing such close quarters only re-ignites an all-consuming desire neither can resist--even as every shadow of the past threatens to tear them apart…

Frustrating Female Lead

Jeanett was a frustrating character for me. She was so intelligent and confident in the first book that her actions in the second book took me off guard a little bit. I didn’t expect her to be so down on herself and constantly pushing away the truth. The passion was good but honestly, her self-esteem issues took away some of the pleasure of the reader, derived from the more sensual scenes. I don’t know if it was just because the book made me anxious but I didn’t enjoy it near as much as book one. I’m hoping book 3 is much better and creates less anxiety for the reader. A little anxiety goes a long way.

too many misunderstandings but good story anyway

I mostly liked this one as a continuation of the series. but Ashford McNabb always does an amazing job narrating.

Long and drawn out !

It’s dated , I don’t think good authors write like this anymore.
Miscommunication and angst
Disappointing.

FYI there are 5 books in this good series

This was a very good story. I totally enjoyed it along with the first book. Great strong characters, some hot and steamy sex, (not too x rated, just good enough) The secondary characters are all wonderful too.

Note: there are 5 books in this series they are not all listed together in audible but they are all available.
Book 1: Every Night I'm Yours
Book 2: Every Time We Kiss
Book 3: Something Scandalous
Book 4: Scandal of The Season (Not listed with the series but is available)
Book 5: One Night Scandal

Narration is good if you listen to it on 1.25 speed otherwise its just too slow.
Credit Worthy? Yes.

A VERY ENJOYABLE REGENCY ROMANCE

Christie Kelley has delivered yet another captivating and enjoyable Regency romance with her story of an accident, one person's sacrifice, one person's guilt and the devastating consequences that followed. Matthew and Jennette's story is heartbreaking as fate had intervened and robbed them of furthering the mutual attraction they once shared and so, for 5 years, they remained apart..... but fate hadn't quite finished with them!

This listen made me want to skip to the end to make sure Matthew and Jennette finally got their long awaited HEA but I had to remind myself that it's the riveting romantic journey that counts - so I trusted in the talented author to take me on that journey...... and what a journey it was. It was filled with secrets, misunderstandings galore, sizzling chemistry, lust, passion, sex, a couple of nasty characters plotting and planning on revenge, other great secondary characters, some "Oh no!, Ahhh yes", "Mmmm" moments and then, eventually, and eventfully, a "sigh" as I was thankfully rewarded with my long awaited romantic HEA.

Although there are characters and passing comments about events from the previous book, this could easily be a stand-alone listen.

Worth a credit? I'm loving this series and have just downloaded the remaining 3 books in the series so that's a YES and if you too enjoy a good historical romance then I hope you will think so too.
