Engaging Sir Isaac was a delightful read/listen. It has one of the funniest meet-cutes I've read, and it set off the adventure this story was going to be on the right foot. I loved getting to know Sir Isaac Fox as well as Miss 'Millie' Wedgwood, knowing that the first was the last remaining single/bachelor from the club, and the second had hidden motives to befriend him. The story had some twists that while kind of expected, didn't happen at the time I thought they were going to happen, and only added to the enjoyment of this book.

I loved the main characters, but especially the fact that the author did a pretty good job with Isaac's character: a wounded hero with both physical and emotional scars and losses, as well as some deeper issues, such as nightmares and social anxiety. Having this kind of flawed hero made the story that much more relatable, and definitely made me root for him the most. As for the heroine, I certainly liked watching her grow throughout the story, but also how well-suited she was for Isaac. Of course, one of my favorite moments with Sir Isaac was seeing him be the doting uncle to his nephew, and, as his sister said, knowing that he'd be a wonderful father one day. As for the romance, it was swoon-worthy, and those kisses were just perfect.

As always, the narrator was fantastic! She brought every character to life and made me feel all the emotions they were going through. Seriously, I don't think there's a better pair than Sally Britton and Marian Hussey.

Completely recommended! ~ 5 stars

PS: I think this book is essential to understand how Lord Neil will change from being a villain in book 1 to being someone's hero in his own book, #5 in the Inglewood series.

Good overall!

Another good story by Sally Britton. I went back and forth on Millie, but her character and understanding of herself grew throughout the book. Isaac was wonderful — love him, and I was glad to find him on a better path by the end. I felt like the story dragged a bit at the end, but things finally got set to rights. My biggest issue with the book was actually Esther (Isaac’s sister) — she seemed impatient with his struggles and wasn’t too shy about letting him know it, as though he should be able to just snap himself out of it all if he’d only suck it up and try harder. I wasn’t terribly impressed with that ... but as for the rest, a good installment in this series!

Delightful and Charming!

I was completely drawn in and engaged in this story from the beginning. I was listening to it while trying to prep for a camping trip and loved having it keep me entertained while gathering all the supplies needed and packing. It was a great diversion.

I was pleasantly surprised by Millie's character. I could feel the uncertainty she had in joining in with some schemes for other ladies all in the name of helping to raise her family in society. Or rather try to overcome the scandal that was attached to her family years ago. She separated her personal feelings for the schemes and decided she was doing it all for her mother and helping and pleasing her.

I loved the back and forth struggle we see Millie struggling with. She did a great job playing her part and yet not. My opinion of her kept increasing the further into the story I listened. Although other characters didn't know what struggle she was going through. I loved that amidst her trying to scheme for others, her true characteristics came through and she found some friends in an unlikely manner.

Sir Isaac was a character that I've been interested in learning more about after seeing him in previous books. His inner battle of self worth was very well written. The way that the author wrote both his and Millie's feelings of inadequacy and insecurities was well thought out. I loved it and really connected with the characters because of it. I liked the change in POV between Millie and Isaac.

There were some pleasant surprise with other characters, especially Lord Neil. Very pleasant surprise there. Now I'm very intrigued and looking forward to reading his book. Go Lord Neil! You'll have to read the book (or listen) to understand my cheering him on. I loved him though!

Isaac and Millie's first meeting was pretty humorous. I laughed out loud a couple different times during that scene. The narrator of the audiobook did a great job with that scene. And I couldn't wait until their next meeting to see what was going to happen and Millie's reaction. Ha! *Imagine me chuckling deviously*

I thought their building friendship was great and their chemistry and developing love. *happy sigh* It was another great addition to the Inglewood series and one that I can happily recommend to my book loving daughters and friends!

Loved it!

When I first started this story, I was really hesitant to like Millie. I thought what she was doing was despicable — but it’s understandable too; if my parents had pressured me, I’m sure I would have behaved in a similar manner. The theme of personal vs family honor is so tricky in this book. I felt like I fell more and more in love with Millie the further we got into the story.

Sir Isaac’s issues were only lightly touched on, but I felt that was appropriate for his character, since most of the book he was really trying to avoid thinking about his troubles.

I actually found Lord Neil to be one of my favorite characters. He is so despicable and villainous in Book One, but I know his story is next and I love that he is set up to be sort of floundering to be a better person. I think he has a really good heart, deep deep down, and I’m excited to know him better!

Engaging Sir Isaac

I am not usually a Regency reader, but Sally Britton's books are always do enjoyable. I have enjoyed getting to know the characters and seeing them grow and change. Marian Hussey is wonderful with her narration of the book. Clean romance. Highly recommend.

Another good book in the series.

This wasn’t my favorite...I enjoyed books 1-3 much more. However, it was a good story had the reader did another fabulous job. I am looking forward to reading the next book!

Great story!!

Grrr!!! I have never liked lady Olívia! But now I dislike her even more!! I do not want to go into a rant and give anything away lol. It was a beautiful story. I love sir Isaac. His impulsivity. His protective nature, his wit. Love sally Britton!!!! And the narrator is fabulous!!!!! Clean and wholesome!!!

Loved it

I had previously read this book but listening to it was even better. The narrator is really good.

The following is based on my original review of the book.
First I must say that I never thought I could like Lord Neil but I loved seeing his redeeming qualities in this book. He is still just a bit unlikable and seems on the evil side but then he goes out of his way to help people where it seemingly doesn't benefit him. Not that he is going to go too much out of his way to help someone but he seemed to be where he needed to be, dropping the right hint exactly when it needed to be dropped. It makes me look forward to the next book.

But now on to Isaac and Millie... I found Millie a little frustrating in her willingness to go along with Olivia's scheme but I did like her and Isaac too. I rooted for them to win but couldn't see how it was going to come about. It was not a predictable story except to say that we knew it would end happily. How they would get there I knew not.

I have enjoyed all the books in this series and look forward to the next one.

An excellent Regency romance

My thoughts about this book:


• The story caught my interest immediately with Millie's mother berating her. This was a great setup for this story.

• Millie and Isaac were the type of characters that you wanted to discover more about as you listened to their story.

• The secondary characters added depth to the story.

• The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done, easy to visualize, and to feel. I felt a part of the scenes.

• The pacing of the story was neither too slow nor too fast.

• There was a smooth, coherent flow to this book.

• This story had a very satisfying ending.

• The narrator did an excellent job in differentiating the various characters' voices. She did an amazing job and brought the story to life.

• This was a clean story.

I was given a free audiobook by the author. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own. I will be listening to or reading more books by this author. I will also keep a lookout for more books narrated by Marian Hussey.
