About this listen
A hauntingly romantic story about love across time and space
Ella Campbell is no ordinary orphan. She was brought up by her Scottish grandmother in the tiny village of Glenorchy in New Zealand at the southernmost tip of the world.
The only things Ella has been brought up to care about are Scotland, books, and the clan charmstone that has been passed down through the centuries until it ends up with her.
And it is strange how things can move us to act in mysterious ways….
1452 is the year to where her fated footsteps lead her, where she meets a Highland warrior like no other.
Callum Campbell, the nephew of the famous Knight and Crusader, Black Colin, is the one who finds Ella. Callum is fiercely suspicious of this young maiden who seemed to rise up out of the waters before him, but their attraction to one another is instant and intense.
And Ella has other things to worry about—like Black Colin’s son and the threat of being shamed as a witch.
It’s almost as if Granny Campbell was preparing Ella for this adventure for her entire life.
This is the first book in Kalani Madden’s epic time-travel Scottish historical romance and she does not disappoint. A bright star in romance writing is born.

Couldn't wait to read the next one!
This was a perfect blend of fantasy yet historical background. I couldn't wait to read the other ones! All were great and I highly recommend!

Great little escape from life!
Such a fun little getaway to a far-off land and culture! It had just the right mix of historical context and fiction to sweep you into the story. The narrator's rich and smooth accent leaves you wanting more, and the story is spun in such a clever way that it kept my attention engaged. It's the perfect size book when you just need a little "me" time without the commitment of a long novel. I'm definitely going to buy the sequel!

A cliffhanger
This book got off on a bit of a slow start. The narrator really pulled me into the story. Her accent made me feel as if the story were more authentic. The story had some interesting twists, but the ending felt too soon. I want more!! Good thing the next part is waiting!

Kiwi Lass finds herself in the 15thc. Scottish Highlands.
Annoying spoiled protagonist on a mission to validate a family treasure. Good historical background by author as well as a (fictional) plausible setting. Not a fan of time travel so others may enjoy this a great deal more.
