About this listen

Emotional Intelligence Is Your Ticket to Success

Take the first step toward mastering your social skills and turning your life around today!

The secret to success isn't always about technical skills. In fact they play a very small part in the grand scheme of things. I mean, if you think about it, we all know a braniac whiz who just can't get ahead in life, and when we look at them it's quite obvious. They don't know how to socialize, deal with conflicts, or even manage their own emotions.

But here's the twist: Many of us are this way, just not at the extreme end of the spectrum. Sure, we may be playing the EQ game 10 times better than the braniac, but what if we played it 100 times better? What if we were so conscious of our own emotional intelligence and of the people around us that we could have massive control in every social situation with just a little bit of knowledge of soft skills and communication skills? You see, that's the secret to success - it's your emotional intelligence, how well you empathize and bond with others as well as how conscious you are of your own emotions.

Unfortunately (or fortunately for you, since you're reading this), most people don't actively study these skills. That's a good thing for people who do study these skills and want to get ahead in life because when it comes to emotional intelligence, there are only two types of people who really understand it. There are the naturals, who can control a room with their charm without even trying, and then there are those who have sharpened their emotional intelligence to the point where they can not only compete with the charm of the naturals but surpass them, harnessing the true power of emotional intelligence and strategically using it when it's most needed.

Great for Communication and Better Skills

This was a good listen and an excellent source of knowing yourself and learning good verbal and non-verbal communication skills. In a short amount of time, this book touches upon several integral parts of the whole. Facial and body language, eye contact, using laughter or humor, and forgiveness. You'll learn about soft and hard skills and have a better understanding of compassion and empathy if you don't already.

Philip Andrew Hodges does an excellent job narrating. He's easy to understand and has good vocal command.

EI Introduction And Quick Reference!

This was great overview on Emtional Intellgence. The skills mentioned in this book are not only valuable for your personal and social development, but are also a great benefit for professional career.

More and more employers are realizing the value of EI. My employer actually offers many courses to their employees, and my whole department was recently required to take a EI class along with EQ test. One thing I learned and found interesting, you cannot improve your IQ; however, by practicing and applying the skills outlined in this audiobook, you can improve your EQ scores. Which is one of the reasons why I requested to listen to this book.

All topics mentioned, closely mirrored the items covered in our EI class, so this audiobook is prefect for a quick reference guide for me. (Also these types of self improvement courses/leisure reads look great on a resume). Because of the content I'm giving this audiobook five stars.

The narrtion was awesome. Phillip Andrew Hodges has a great voice, and spoke clearly. I would definitely listen to other audiobooks narrated by him. The only suggestion I have for narrating self-help/business audiobooks, would be to slow down just a little. I did slow down the narration only because I absorb the content slower in a self help audio versus an audiobook I listen too for leisure.

I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Quick self-improvement lesson

Any additional comments?

The information in this book is well organized, to the extent that the objectives are reviewed before and after the narrative. It is easy to understand and likely helpful to anyone interested in increasing their self-awareness about emotions and relationships. The narrator used a tone and manner conducive to absorbing the information. I found the format appealing for a quick self-help lesson.

Brief Introduction to Emotional Intelligence

TARGET AUDIENCE: Anyone looking for an introduction to what Emotional Intelligence is and why it is important.

CONTENT: This is just a 30 minute book. It is a brief introduction to Emotional Intelligence. If you are wondering what all the hype is about EQ or one’s level of Emotional Intelligence this is a good place to start. It shows why it is important and what you can do to start working on it.

NARRATOR: Unremarkable. Narrator neither added to or detracted from the book. Good reading.

OVERALL: Good Short introduction.

A Guide for Introverts

This book would be a very good guide for introverts that are trying to move forward in their professional lives. Personally, I didn't find the book very useful simply because I don't have the same problems with confidence or public speaking, so this was pretty much a review of skills that I have already mastered. However, for those that are trying to come out of their shells and improve themselves both personally and professionally, I think this would be a very good starting point.

Narration here was decent. I thought the overall tone and pace was good for what was being read.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author, publisher, or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. I was NOT required to write a positive review and this reflects my honest opinion of the work.

Too brief

It is like reading the index and finding out that the rest of the book isn’t there.
