About this listen

Tom Roberts has been aware from childhood that mysterious events once occurred at his grandfather's remote country house, but has no idea of exactly what happened there. Years later, when he spends a short break at the property, the horrifying past comes vividly to life as ghosts rise from their graves to reveal deeply buried family secrets.

Brilliantly creepy!

If there’s such a thing as brilliantly creepy, then this book qualifies! The World War has just ended and British citizens are recovering. Tom has left London to visit his elderly grandfather in the country. Returning to the his father’s childhood home brings back a memory of an apparition in his room on one visit. As Tom settles in for his visit, he begins seeing visions from the past…and one very evil girl. Think The Bad Seed!! Another fast paced story that will keep you reading/listening!

Entertaining paranormal mystery

The author expertly combines 2 genres to give the listener a very enjoyable experience. The talented narrator brings it to life.

entertaining murder mystery

this was a very entertaining murder mystery book. It had an interesting turn of events. It was not a predictable ending. I'm uncertain about how I feel about the ending but it was an overall good book

Lovely ghost story, disappointing narration

Emily’s evil ghost is a well written, short ghost story that includes the development of relationships within a family and love throughout the story.

I keep thinking of campfire ghost stories when it comes to characterizing the story and writing.

The narration didn’t do it for me at all, unfortunately, and detracted from the writing.
The base tone has a little bit of urgency in it, but no variation outside of that. It lacks expressiveness due to the absence of variation in even just the pace (with the exception of some oddly placed pauses). Each sentence has pretty much the same sing-songy melody that makes it easy to get distracted.

That said - the story was still strong enough to look past it and genuinely enjoy :)

Just enough 'spook'

REVIEW: I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review.

Would you listen to Emily's Evil Ghost again? Yes. Why? I would listen to it again to see if there are any little tidbits I might have let slip by during my first listen.

I am not the type of person who enjoys 'watching' horror movies, (I don't like being scared), but I find I do enjoy listening to them in audiobook format. I find I can enjoy the story line more if I'm not waiting for the next thing to jump out and scare me.

This was a really good family history story with just enough 'spook' thrown in. The characters were very interesting.

I look forward to hearing another book written by Geoffrey Sleight as well as one narrated by Howard J. Davey.

Didn't want it to end

For me, the beginning was a little bit drawn out, but the author more than makes up for it once the "meat and potatoes" is served up! From there I was locked in and loving every moment. I found it suspenseful, suspicious of who all was real - who else were ghosts? I enjoyed the love story that was taking place amidst the daring creation of an evil child. Very enjoyable, both in writing and narration!

Emily's Evil Ghost

Wow!What a story! A ghost appears to a boy, then again when he is a man. This is at his grandfathers home. When his Grandfather is taken ill and is comatose, ghosts inhabit the house to tell the familys evil secrets Maybe he should not have asked to know what happened in the past. Howard J. Davey was a very good narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Suspenseful

Very interesting story. I could not stop listening. I just had to know what was going to happen next. To know what secrets would be uncovered. They were just WOW! Not at all what I was expecting. The story is excellent and the narrator did an amazing job.
