At the beginning, you think this is the story of the average widow, but there is nothing average about the story. All through, you are privy to Elizabeth's innermost thoughts and fears. Her secret, when revealed, adds a layer of depth to her character and the story itself. It's an illustration of how personal histories shape our lives and the places we call home. You will find yourself reflecting on the importance of standing up for what you believe in, no matter the odds.

Easy summer story

The audio was done perfectly, Deborah Kosnett adapted her voice to each character. She made it easy to follow the story when the time period changed. Her inflection & tone made the characters likable & the story flow easily. The author endeared the women & the men in the story with their hardships and perseverance. Overall, it was an easy listen, with a bit of intrigue & and a surprise every now & then!
