About this listen

Paulo Coelho is the Brittney Spears of modern literature

I used to enjoy Paulo Coelho‘s books as a teenager. But now, after reading 11 Minutes, his style sounds so naive and flat to me. It feels almost like using the word „soul“ every few lines is all it takes for the book to qualify as a “spiritual read”: “souls are being touched” and “inner light shines through” - I feel all of his books are full of those banal and incredible 2 dimensional “deep, spiritual” descriptions. His attempts to be as profound as possible really make him sound repetitive and shallow. Although I found the topic quite interesting, I feel the author sugar coated prostitution, presenting it like life is presented in superficial romantic Hollywood movies.
