About this listen

May 1283. The roads near Tyndal Priory are filled with happy pilgrims returning from St. Walstan’s feast day, but not all in Tyndal Priory and village are joyful. Signy, the local innkeeper, is quarrelling with her suddenly rebellious foster son. Gytha, Crowner Ralf’s wife, suffers failing health while her husband hunts smugglers on the remote North Sea coast. Brother Thomas remains moody and aloof. But before Prioress Eleanor can offer help and comfort, disaster strikes. A pilgrim is murdered near the priory walls. Prioress Eleanor has no right to intervene in crimes outside the Church’s authority, but any delay will allow the killer to escape into the crowds of pilgrims. Until the crowner can return, she must act. Is it too late? Will this be the first murderer she cannot bring to justice?

Warning - The Twice Hanged Man is missing from the Audible series

Starting to listen, it was clear that the overall plot line had taken a huge leap.between the last book on Audible and this one. The story alludes to many things apparently from The Twice Hanged Man which is currently not available as an audio book . This greatly detracted from my enjoyment of what is a good story, well told

This gap problem isn’t uncommon, it is at its most egregious with the Robert Carey series by PF Chisholm. Those stories, however, stand alone better than this series.
With most Audible offerings, the book order isn’t made clear. With this Tyndall priory series, one is left to puzzle it out from the publication date ( which may be the date of the audio book not the print publication date) and the book description. The year in which the story is set isn’t always provided (which led me to start the book following this one before listening to Elegy to Murder which made that story almost senseless)
This is a serious problem with Audible but NOT with the stories themselves.

Books 13,14,15 missing. New narrator awful

I am guessing the story is good, but five minutes in and the voice or rather the way this narrator reads annoy me enough to give this book back. I listened to the whole series up to book 13. annoyed by the missing books but even more by this awful reading. Thanks, but no thanks!
