About this listen

Tuesday Truman spent half of her life in the dark, knowing nothing of the horrible truth behind her lineage. And now, nearing 30, she’s still trying to make up for all of the wrongs committed by her parents. She’s awkward, but honest, and because of her past she’s got a real thing for true crime - which lead to her successful podcast on the subject. She and her best friends use their armchair detective skills, and the help of their loyal fans, to study and sometimes even stop the same kinds of criminals that haunt Tuesday’s nightmares.

But Tuesday may have bitten off more than she can chew with her current endeavor - helping a listener identify and stop her uniquely horrible stalker - when she goes from hunter to hunted. This particular hunter reminds her of her parents, in his despicable fetishes and determination to have what he wants, enough for her to seek out advice in the one place she never expected to stoop.

Racing to catch her man before falling into his trap first, Tuesday becomes consumed by the chase. Except nothing goes the way she expects, and after too many failures her anxiety threatens to paralyze her while her paranoia has her distrusting even those she’s closest to. But if she can’t get herself together in time, she may become the next victim instead of the hero.

Can the daughter of two serial killers use her past as an advantage for once, in order to right the wrongs around her?

Content warning: Some violence, sexual content, and language.

If you like thrillers with deliciously dark twists and an awkward but strong main character, Edge of Darkness might be your next favorite audiobook. It'll keep you listening just one more minute until you reach the end.

Just couldn’t get into it

I gave up at chapter 33/62.
I think this would work better as a read than a listen.
I swear that about the fifth time I listened to exactly the same intro (at least 3 mins) to the same podcast, it was just too much.

Maybe it was the narrator- she has a rather breathy voice that sounds childish at times. But I just couldn’t identify with the main character.

I think this is book 2 or 3 in a series... maybe I would have been more invested if I’d listened to the earlier ones?

I think that this is a bit like a horror movie... nothing happens, then an abrupt action, then ‘normality’ (or monotony) sets in again.

There’s also a lot of wordy angst and soul searching. Those sorts of books just aren’t my cup of tea.

Good until the last ten chapters

Squeaky-voiced narrator, concept clever and cleverly delivered, but final culprit from out of nowhere, and a totally unnecessary last chapter; kind of a downer.

Awesome concept, great narration

This series is so creative and dark. It's about the daughter of two serial killers. Of course that's going to mess with a girl, but she uses her background to investigate/support those suffering from crimes with a podcast with friends. The podcasts are a way fun narrative style and keep the story light with those heavy themes and suspense. The narrator has a great husky voice but does get a bit on the whiny side with a few character voices. Highly recommend for thriller/suspense readers or those who enjoy villain/anti-hero stories.
