About this listen

Step back in time to Easter 1935 at Glosser Bros. Department Store in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. The display windows bloom with brightly colored decorations, and the smell of roasting peanuts fills the air. Each child gets a free baby chick for the holiday, and a rabbit comes with the purchase of each boys' suit. When eight-year-old Owen Talisman gets his free (yet priceless) Easter pets, life with his special new bunny takes a surprising twist that changes everything. Decades later, Owen faces another turning point, one that could take away his hopes and dreams forever. But his great-grandson, and the magic of Easter at Glosser's, refuse to give up on him.

A nice simple story

Any additional comments?

Chosen because it was short and was geographically located in an area that I was familiar with. I was afraid that I'd lose interest in a longer audio book and never finish. The narration was very good and I was surprised at how easy and comforting it was to listen to to the story and reminded me of when my grandparents used to read to me when I was a kid.Overall, the story was nice and entertaining and would recommend this title. Suitable for all ages. The story is not too long that a child would become distracted.

Better Than The Original Long Live Glosser's

This is a lovely, magical tale about Easter at Glosser's Department store.

I listened to the original [history of] Long, Live Glosser's but found it tedious. Because I have no connection to the store or one like it (think Bloomingdale's or Macy's before they became chain stores.) This short story about the tradition of giving away baby animals was much better, in my opinion.

There are characters with dimensions that turn in this tradition into a magical tale.

Gary A. Mason is very good, but there was a bit of a tinny sound or echo throughout the book. It wasn't distracting or hinder the performance at all – it was just something I noticed that the publisher or agent may want to fix.

*I received this book in exchange for a review. As I stated, the Original Glosser's was not my cup of tea but I enjoyed this tale much more.

Notes: This is a story for all ages. Maybe not the very little ones, but definitely something one could read to their children to spark their imagination.

I find reviews are helpful when I am looking at/before I purchase any book. If you found that my review helps you in deciding whether or not to purchase this book, would you take a moment and select yes immediately at the bottom of this review? Thank you! Also, please consider 'following' me here on Audible.com. I am fortunate to have been chosen to listen to books in all genres. My personal preferences are more along the lines of contemporary romance (with a bit of kink sometimes) and military and history books.

Cute story

I thought this story was cute and shows a parents love. A child gets a beloved pet and the parent supports that love and encourages his imagination. It is lighthearted and a joy to listen to.
