A member of the Kiowa tribe, Momaday was born in Lawton, Oklahoma, and grew up on Navajo, Apache, and Peublo reservations throughout the Southwest. It is a part of the Earth he knows well and loves deeply.

A Treasure

Really great. Poetic and lyrical, riveting. There is the sense of listening to an intimate, treasured friend but also a grandness, like the book of Psalms. Transmits the sacred nature of nature.

Profound and so important

Momaday speaks and we all should listen. He touches the soul with messages from the earth that only he can translate so well to words that we find beautiful and inspiring to read (or hear). I wish that everyone on the planet would read, and really know, the beautiful messages of this book.
