About this listen

A captivating new sexy stand-alone romance by New York Times best-selling author Melissa Foster.

Special Forces veteran and Dark Knights Motorcycle Club member Bullet Whiskey lives to protect his family, their bar, and the residents of his small hometown. He's rough, unapologetic, and haunted by a secret, painful past. He's also a master at keeping people away, and when his sister hires gorgeous and sweet Finlay Wilson to help expand their biker bar, he knows just how to get rid of her.

After losing her boyfriend and her father, Finlay moves back to her hometown to be closer to the little family she has left. She needs her temporary job at Whiskey Bro's to get her catering business off the ground, and she's determined not to let the gruff, arrogant mountain of a man Bullet Whiskey scare her off.

Finlay is everything Bullet has never wanted. She's afraid of his dog, afraid of motorcycles, and sweet enough to give him cavities, but as she weaves her way into the hearts of everyone around him, he's powerless to resist her charms. Passion ignites, but trust doesn't come easily, and when their pasts collide, Bullet finds out the true meaning of protecting those he loves.

Driving Whiskey Wild Audiobook is Awesome

Bullet Whiskey is a dichotomy of tough and soft, a badass with heart, complicated, and a protector. Finlay Wilson is an innocent. She is all sweetness and good. But she has experienced pain and has a longing for something, family. Bullet and Finlay meet at a wedding where he is crass and propositions her to “ride the bullet train”. As a result of Finlay’s work they are thrown together on a daily basis. Melissa Foster tells a story of pain, guilt and healing through characters written with such depth. Paul Woodson’s voice is exactly as I imagine Bullet. He sounded both gruff and tender. I loved this heartfelt book. 10 star rating!

Need A Stiff Drink!

What did you love best about Driving Whiskey Wild?

Ms. Foster is the songwriter and Mr. Woodson is the singer that brings this story to life. I had no trouble picturing Bullet as our narrator tells me his tale.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Driving Whiskey Wild?

There wasn't one moment but many. Our author has a way of always getting me to laugh. Now I have more than one reason to read/listen to this book over and over. I don't drink but I just had a feeling that I needed a glass of Whiskey at the ready any time we are taken to the bar.

Have you listened to any of Paul Woodson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first book that I have listened to by Mr. Woodson but it certainly won't be the last. I've already increased my wish list, and a lot of them are books by our author - doing happy dance, so I'm going to busy for quite a while. He's got the perfect voice for those bad boy characters. With this book, he's a perfect choice in bringing out the attitude that both Bullet and Finlay have.

Any additional comments?

Mr. Woodson has ruined me - yes ruined me. When I actually read this book, I could hear every word this author wrote in my head. Now every time I read this book, and probably any of the Whiskey series, I will hear his voice in my head - and that's not a bad thing. He even did me a favor (?) A song was mentioned in the book but when Mr. Woodson comes upon it here let's just say that I was glad I was in my car at the time. I found myself having no choice but to laugh out loud. I was also tempted to play the song on repeat until the book was done.

If I'm having a bad day, a bad week, or just want to escape; this will be a book of choice to have at the ready. There's no way that your spirits won't be lifted when listening to a book written by this author. It may cover a sad subject but she doesn't make her stories dark and she knows just what to write to get you to at the very least giggle. When I read the book, I had an issue with the screen of my e-reader letting off a little steam. But having the audiobook, you'll have steam coming out your ears.

I was sad when I heard "that voice" that says "Audible hopes..." because that meant that Mr. Woodson wasn't going to read to me any more. It also meant that it was the end of Bullet and Finlay's story. By leaving this review, I've let one of my favorite authors, the narrator, and even Audible know how much I loved my experience. Now I need to hit repeat.

I voluntarily reviewed an Audiobook copy of this book.

Love this series!

I cannot get enough of the Whiskey family! This series is so much fun, and makes my heart full! This one is especially good with Bullet. He is ex-military, has a huge heart and will do anything to protect the people around him. But he has issues. Finlay is new to town, and only there temporarily. As a caterer, she is hired to expand the offerings at the Whiskey Bros bar. But what she finds is so much more. From the very start, this couple is explosive. Bullet is closed off, but there is something about Finlay that makes him more accessible. Finlay is a tough one, full of spunk and ideas, and Bullet is not the kind of man she sees herself with. Until she does, and once that happens, it's all passion. Foster writes this book with so much compassion and feeling, that I was completely entranced. Dealing with survivor's guilt, and PTSD is so hard, and she finds the right balance giving us the heart Bullet's story. And while I completely fell for this couple, I have to say that my favorite character is Tinkerbell the dog! What a puppy! She could not have been more perfect. Add in the Whiskey family and the MC club cameos and I felt right at home in my new found community of Peaceful Harbor. Keep them coming, I love it!

Paul Woodson continues his phenomenal narration of this series. He just gets these characters and truly brings them alive. I love his voice and the way he is able to find that specific emotional pull for each of the characters. He is amazing.

A Different Kind of MC Alpha

This was my first book by this author and so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. What I got was a motorcycle club that was anything but stereotypical, a growly alpha with a heart of pure gold, and a love story that sort of snuck up on my feels and then gave them a good wallop. I loved Bullet and Finley’s sexy, angsty, and ultimately super sweet love story!

New-to-me author

I really enjoyed Driving Whiskey Wild. This is the first book by Melissa Foster that I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. Foster does an amazing job writing relatable characters that you can't help but love. This was one of the few books that I've listened to with a male narrator. Usually, I'm a bit turned off by listening to a male narrate especially if the voice doesn't quite match the characters (especially the ladies!), but Paul Woodson did a great job! I was engaged throughout the story and I loved how he brought the main characters to life. If you're looking for a narrator with a great, deep voice look no further.

Overall, I would definitely listen to this audiobook again and I'm SO glad I found a new author to read/listen to.

Let Bullet Drive you Wild!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would certainly recommend this book - it's a heartwarming tale that is filled with ups and downs and really good characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Having read other works by this author, I come to expect emotional spots throughout the story and this one did not disappoint. But in addition to emotional scenes, she often throws out these one liners that usually make me swoon or make me cry or make me simply feel. While there were many throughout, I can still hear Bullet telling Finlay "You don't have to be a motorcycle girl, just be my girl". Be still my heart.

Any additional comments?

DRIVING WHISKEY WILD by Melissa Foster. This review is for the audiobook version of this story. Having read the previous books in the Whiskey series, I was very excited for Bullet and Finlay's story. (Note- this can be listened to as a standalone). Ms. Foster's story often evoke quite the range of emotions out of me and this one was no different. Bullet is uber-sexy, rough and tough and gruff all the way but has the biggest heart of almost any Hero I've ever met. Finlay is sweet as pie and, if two people could be more opposite, it's these two. Finlay, however, at times was just a tad too sweet for me and came across a little naive. Despite that, she complemented Bullet perfectly. Their love story is one that is sweet and endearing. It represents many of the ups and downs couples face as they journey their path together. I was smiling and laughing, swooning and catching my breath, and then found myself yelling at the characters too. Ms. Foster does an amazing job of portraying the emotions and feelings of her characters and her phrasing and way with words often makes me go "Sigh - that is just soooo romantic!" The audio version of the tale was well done, although I had my hesitations when learning it was a male narrator. Often, I find males distracting when they try to pull off a female's voice. Mr. Paul Woodson did an acceptable job, however. It did take me a chapter or two to get used to him speaking as Finlay and the other females, but once I got into the story, it no longer became an issue for me. I found I could follow and recognize each character as he spoke. Listening to a book is a bit different then reading it and I found DRIVING WHISKEY WILD to be a wonderful listening experience. (received an ARC of the audiobook for an honest review)

Amazing

Driving Whiskey Wild is the third book of The Whiskey's by Melissa Foster. I always thoroughly enjoy Melissa's work and this one is no different. It is a sweet romance border lining naughty bedroom. Bullet Whiskey is an intense alpha male who becomes mush around Finlay. Finlay is extremely sweet and wears everyone of her emotions on her face. She welcomes a whole new world when she starts falling for the Whiskey magic.

In this book you see the inner workings of the mind of someone suffering from PTSD and not wanting to let anyone in. You find the will to overcome the loss of a loved one. I adored the couple and can not wait to get my hands on Bone's and Sarah's story!

Not your average rom-com

Would you listen to Driving Whiskey Wild again? Why?

I would absolutely read this again. This was a sweet story that is easy to listen to while doing housework or running errands.

Which character – as performed by Paul Woodson – was your favorite?

Paul Woodson does a great job finding Bullet's voice from the first chapter.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved how Finlay just fit in with Bullet's family. It isn't a moment exactly, but just a general feeling of acceptance that makes me fall harder for Bullet and the whole Wild family.

Any additional comments?

I both read and listened to this book and I will say that Paul Woodson's narration only improved an already good story.

This is the first book in the whiskey series that I have read and I have instantly fallen in love with this family. Bullet is written as so much more than just a typical alpha stereotype and turns out to be a very complex and sensitive hero. Finlay (a name I absolutely loved BTW) fits in well with the other women in Bullet's world and her interactions with them alone make me want to go back and read the previous books in the series. I really enjoyed reading how Bullet wins over Finlay and they both are able to overcome their personal obstacles to find happiness. That sounds like the plot of pretty much ever romance but I assure you that Foster really writes these characters in an interesting way that makes this stand out from the pack.

Great story, loved the narration

Narrator Review:
Paul Woodson’s gravelly voice brought Bullet alive. His narration was an excellent choice for this book.

Book Review:
Bullet Whiskey is truly a protector for his family, the bar, and The Dark Knights. As a former Special Force veteran, he lives and breaths to protect. He is a true alpha-badass who doesn’t need frilly, sweet, or sunshine in his life. But he is blind-sided when he meets just that in the form of Finlay Wilson. She is a petite whirlwind of goodness that he can’t stop himself from wanting. She is everything he doesn’t want, but can’t stop himself from needing in his life.

Oh, Melissa Foster, I have a thing for badass, alph-men, and you created one in Bullet Whiskey! And when you had him fall for the girly, girl petite but mighty Finley, WOW! I just loved this story. I loved that the big guy was brought to his knees by the little but mighty girly girl! I can just read this story over and over, well done!
