It was a best seller in the 1930s when it first came out, full of 1930s atmosphere, skilfully written and well researched, too - although Wheatley never practiced magic himself, he met with many of the most famous occultists of his day to make the book as authentic as possible. In The Devil Rides Out, the Duke de Richleau and a friend find that one of their number is missing from a reunion, and it turns out that he has fallen under the influence of a black magic sect.

What made the experience of listening to Dracula's Guest the most enjoyable?
I have listened to other versions of this story. This is the first I've encountered read by a woman. It gives it a different feel. I think she read it well, one of the best versions.Any additional comments?
The one issue I had was the story began and ended verry abruptly. That is there was no title and author at the beginning and no formal ending such as "The End" or " This Concludes The Reading Of...". Not even something like the standard audible.com plug. It put me off a bit. I had to chek my iPod to make sure it was the right thing and started at the beginning.Draculas's aguest
