Bram Stoker
Acerca de esta escucha
Bram Stoker’s classic Gothic horror novel about a vampire’s search for new blood…
Perhaps the most famous vampire story of all time, Dracula is an awesome tale of a thrillingly bloodthirsty vampire whose nocturnal atrocities embody the dark underside of an outwardly moralistic age. As he searches for new prey, desirous to spread the undead curse, Dracula looks toward England. There he is met with resistance from a small band of men and women, led by the intrepid Professor Abraham Van Helsing. Will the people be able to keep the fearsome Dracula from terrorizing their community?

A more climactic death of our Dracula was befitting of the character. He has withstood centuries and yet is killed so easily in the end.
needs more meat in the end

This is one of the few versions that has Stoker's dedication, and the original introduction that begins, 'How these papers have been placed in sequence will be made manifest in the reading of them.'
To my mind, the introduction gives the text a sense of realism that it lacks with out it.
Each narrator gave distinct voices for the characters they narrated. My two personal favorites were Tom Casaletto and Michael Page.
Tom Casaletto's english accent was superb. If I didn't know better, I'd think he was British. You get to here it early on as Mr. Casaletto is the one that narrates the introduction along with the letters, newspaper articles, chapter titles, and the log from Varna to Whitby.
Michael Page's narration of DR. John Seward was the best narration of this version. A great example is at the end of chapter 18 when Mr. Page voices Renfield pleading to be let go. I compared this version to the Naxos audio version and Mr. Page came out the winner by a long shot. Fredric Scadron, Mary Beth Quillen Gregor, and Sheila Hart should not be forgotten either. They narrated Jonathan Harker, Mina Harker, and Lucy Westinra respectively. Each narrator lived their parts as if they were the character.
All in all, a great reading. I highly recommend this version.
