Wholesome goodness

This is the first book from this series that I have read. It is a short, cute, clean little tale following lives in a small Kentucky town. Nothing profound, but if you sometimes (or all the time) like light-hearted wholesomeness this is a good place to look.

Love this series!

Would you consider the audio edition of Dr. Horatio vs. the Six-Toed Cat to be better than the print version?

Yes, because I can knit/spin while listening.

What did you like best about this story?

I had already listened to The Most Famous Illegal Goose Creek Parade: Tales from the Goose Creek B&B and wasn't sure about listening to a prequel (I usually like to do books in order) but I loved it. The characters/town/storylines are so engaging. What I like best, I think, is that animals are included in the stories.

Have you listened to any of Becky Doughty’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes (see above). Just as enjoyable.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and I did as it was a short story.

Any additional comments?

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.

I look forward to listening to more in this series.

Prequel to Goose Creek Series

This story offers an introduction to the main characters of Virginia Smith's Goose Creek series. There's a Casanova Tom on the loose creating kitten havoc among the residents. As the town residents prepare for the annual festival, Dr. Horatio must catch the roaming, feral tomcat before the community is inundated with strange kittens.

A Dose of Wholesome Fun from Kentucky

This Kentucky gal loves this series . . . its funny, clean and tugs at your heart strings . . . our nest has been empty for quite some time, so I empathized with the Richardsons as their daughter, Alison was about to fly the coop . . . small town fun and hilarity over the amorous six-toed cat and Dr. Horatio's antics as he tried to lure it so it could be neutered had me nearly rolling in the floor with laughter . . . this series is exactly what a person needs when they've had their fill of heavy, serious books and need a break . . . As Al and Millie ponder their daughter's wedding to a Columbian drug lord, the town readies itself for the annual Fall Festival, which turns into a regular circus . . . the only one with a cool head is Dr. Horatio's 86 year old mother, Miss Ernie, festival organizer . . . what fun to listen as all the kinks get worked out . . . I am on to the next in the series!

Will make you laugh as advertised :)

So I was baking a Christmas cake and let me tell you, I couldn't have chosen a better story to accompany the pastime. It just goes together well with baking. It's the domesticity. It feels like Virginia is visiting for tea and telling you gossip about your neighbours.

Ladies and gents, this is the Road to Avonlea, southern version. It's a delightful exploration of quirky and very human characters... and there are polydactyl cats all around as well :) Becky Daughty's southern drawl was very enjoyable to listen to. And the Colombian made me laugh so hard!

Go have a listen, this little story is entertaining!
