Best-selling author Walter Dean Myers has received two Newbery Honors and was the first ever recipient of the Michael L. Printz Award.

At a young age, Lil J. Skin started stealing pain pills from his mom whenever he started to feel stressed - but now he's graduated to the big leagues. Critic reviews

"A didn't-see-that-coming ending wraps up the story on a note of well-earned hope and will leave readers with plenty to think about." ( Publishers Weekly)
"Myers' narrative strategy is so inherently dramatic that it captures his readers' attentions and imaginations, inviting not only empathy but also thoughtful discussion." ( Booklist)

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book has limited appeal. Although a good book for high/low readers it's fantasy content masked in reality can be hard for inexperienced youth. The audio book is a great interpretation of the book. The audio book helps students understand how slang can be written to give a clear idea of how the character talk.

Would you recommend Dope Sick to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend it to other teachers how work with a demographic that can relate to the content. It is a good book that has content that will get students reading to start or end the year.

Have you listened to any of J. D. Jackson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This performance by J.D. Jackson does justice to the content, slang and pace of the book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Rewind - just one more time.

I really enjoyed this story! As someone who never thought they could get into audio books I can say that JD Jackson's narration was captivating! The way he can the I his voice to be any character from the mother to Lil J to the news broadcaster or Kelly is impressive. It was told in a simple way that made you feel immediate sympathy for all characters involved. They have free will so yes they can do what they want but some things are beyond their control.Bottom line you can really sink your teeth into this one

Cool story bro

This is a very intresting book, it has a very good story line,it's a little confusing at times but nothing to bad. There is obviously drug content in this book and there's alot of it and frequent profanity the F word is used twice, but the book also has good ( in my opinion ) things behind it such as what can happen when you use drugs and it made me see how i'm lucky to not have to deal with this stuff. This book i think would not be good for younger kids but it depends on how mature youre kid is.
