About this listen

Gunnar O’Neil is a young actor on the rise, with everything going for him, until he accidentally drives his car off a cliff on his way to a party in the Hollywood Hills. Now a ghost, he must go about the process of becoming more familiar with—and coming to terms with—his new situation: Gunnar meets other ghosts (one of whom will become the best friend he ever had); he learns the rules of being a dead entity, stuck between worlds; and he eventually—after some trials and tribulations—transforms into the best version of himself he ever was.

Recommended to fans of movies, big decisions, or dead people.

Wonderful view of the afterlife

the Author takes an interesting look at what the afterlife might look like. Captivating characters keep the narrative moving forward. The narrator has a very nice tone and character voice differences. easy on the ears.

good idea, should have been 2

Felt like the first and second halves were written by different people for two separate books that got crushed together. The first half feels technical and world building, and the second half is plot heavy and deals with the actually interesting ideas this book has. At the end of the day, I'm happy to have read the book.

Decent plot, unique world-building, good story

Can you roughly guess the major plot points before they happen? Yes. Is it worth it? Also yes.

I disagree with the commenter who said that it seemed like two separate books, it really doesn't. It works fairly seamlessly, with natural progression.

A different perspective on afterlife purpose

The story follows our main character, Gunnar as his ghostly form finds new purpose and abilities as it passes time around Hollywood. With the help of other ghosts and a bit of determination, Gunnar becomes more comfortable with his situation and helps to right some wrongs, This certainly is a different take on ghosts and afterlife than I've encountered before. The writing style utilizes a lot of just-in-time backstory and details that don't particularly add to the scene. I find this a distraction, but others may not be as affected. The narration is comfortably paced and easy to listen to. [Disclosure: I received this title for free and listened at 1.85x]
