About this listen

The best and bravest faeries fell in the war against the Sluagh, and now the Council is packed with idiots and cowards. Domnall is old, aching, and as cranky as they come, but as much as he'd like to retire, he's the best scout the Sithein court has left. When a fae child falls deathly ill, Domnall knows he's the only one who can get her the medicine she needs: mother's milk. The old scout will face cunning humans, hungry wolves, and uncooperative sheep, to say nothing of his fellow fae!

A Lively and enchanting fairytale

What made the experience of listening to Domnall and the Borrowed Child the most enjoyable?

The story was very reminiscent of a great fairy-tale. It had the same magical quality and with Reynold's great accent and voice it was brought to life.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I made more than one outburst of glee, or shock. I was on the edge of my seat.

Any additional comments?

I listened to this story, wide eyed and amazed, feeling like a kid. It was very easy to listen to at work, if not for all the times it made me grin like an idiot. The story was very much like a fairy-tale in tone and subject matter, but the characters were a lot more real to me than most fairy-tales I've read. I would recommend this to an older child ( there's a little bit of suggestive content involving some 'special' dancing) and anyone who's familiar and loves Irish and Scottish fairy-tales involving seelie. My only complaint is that it was not longer! There's so much more that could have been expanded upon, but as it is, this is a very good tale and a fun way to pass a couple of boring hours.
