About this listen
The Chelsea Flower Show - hardly the most exciting or dangerous event in the calendar, or so Doctor thinks. But this is Chelsea 426, a city-sized future colony floating on the clouds of Saturn, and the flowers are much more than they seem.
As the Doctor investigates, a familiar foe arrives, and the stakes suddenly get much higher. The Sontarans have plans of their own, and they're not here to arrange flowers.
Available exclusively on download, look out for The Krillitane Storm and Autonomy with more exclusive unabridged readings to come.

Story
India in 1947 is a country in the grip of chaos - a country torn apart by internal strife. When the Doctor and Donna arrive in Calcutta, they are instantly swept up in violent events. Barely escaping with their lives, they discover that the city is rife with tales of 'half-made men', who roam the streets at night and steal people away. These creatures, it is said, are as white as salt and have only shadows where their eyes should be.

Evil is most assuredly afoot - and Britain’s fate rests in the hands of an alluring renegade... and a librarian. These are dark days indeed in Victoria’s England. Londoners are vanishing, then reappearing, washing up as corpses on the banks of the Thames, drained of blood and bone. Yet the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences - the Crown’s clandestine organization whose bailiwick is the strange and unsettling - will not allow its agents to investigate. Fearless and exceedingly lovely Eliza D. Braun, however, with her disturbing fondness for dynamite, refuses to let the matter rest...

They're all gone. We remember them like yesterday: pieces of our stolen heritage. Things like NASA. Football. Parades and pies. Good things, comfortable things. We remember a time when we were alone in the universe, safe and oblivious. But it's all gone now. We called them the Telestines, and in the face of their ruthless invasion we were powerless. By 2040, all the world's governments and militaries had fallen, and the remnants of humanity exiled to the solar system. We looked down on our blue planet, so close to our birthplace, so close to our home.

Fun listen, well worth a credit
I was quite excited to see these lengthier Doctor Who novels that were recently released, The Taking of Chelsea 426 among them. The story contains your classic bad guys and a spot-on Tenth Doctor. When the narration began, I was a bit nervous about how well Christopher Ryan was going to be able to voice the Doctor, as he sounded a bit droll. But when the Doctor showed up, sure enough, the voice and inflections were spot-on.
The story was developed well enough to keep me going with it, but not so complicated that I couldn't multi-task while I listened.
Overall, an entertaining listen, well worth a credit. :)

Great Narration, Nice story with extra depth!
What did you love best about Doctor Who: The Taking of Chelsea 426?
First, let me say that this is the first Dr. Who audiobook I've listened to that wasn't narrated by David Tennet. However, Christopher Ryan does such a fabulous job of capturing the spirit of the 10th Doctor that it didn't matter. I actually enjoyed it more because his other voices and regular narration were fantastic! If you're a 10th doctor fan, this is a great listen. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Awesome Narrator
I was very impressed with this narrator and his ability to get the 10th Doctor voice. I had to remind myself a couple times that it wasn't David Tennant reading it.
The story was also good. Better than I'd anticipated - nicely plotted, kept me interested the whole time. The companion-style characters were good and contributed to the story positively (not just running around yelling for the Doctor to save them). After all the descriptions of the Sontarans vs the Rooten, I want to go watch some more of the old Doctor Who's to learn more about the Rooten (or however that's spelled).
Fun listen, great narrator. I hope they get him for more Doctor Who books.

Interesting story
Interesting premise, and a different take on the Sontarans, somewhat better than most, in fact. Loved the kids - very bright, and the Doctor actually acknowledged their help with things he didn't know. How often does that happen?
Didn't greatly like the narrator, though he did a good job; just didn't find that his voice/phrasing, etc for the Doctor was as good as it could have been. But part of that is just his voice. He gets 3 stars, the story 3+. (from my Goodreads review)
