Fun to listen to, and accurate!

I got this to listen to with my husband, who used to live in Montreal and MISSES IT. He was laughing, and it sparked conversation, and he told stories about living there. It was full of real details too, but it also speaks of a unique culture that was fun to visit on the car radio. Recommend!!

From a Québécoise viewpoint

I am Québécoise pure laine. I was looking for a book for my American husband to gain a better grasp of the Quebecois quirks. It’s OK. Unfortunately the narrator is not Québécois, so although his pronunciation of the Québec slang is not bad, it’s still spoken with an english accent, so it takes away some of the flavor of our accent. There are some inaccuracies in translation. Some expressions I had never heard although I can see how they could exist.
If the author would like me to narrate it, I think it could be fun and I would do a do a better job. Actually any bilingual Québécois could do that 🙂

Very entertaining!

What a fun book! Is it wrong that I particularly enjoyed the swear words section? It was interesting to hear the differences between Canadian French and European Canadian - some phrases were pretty close whereas others were not. I highly recommend this to anyone traveling to Quebec or has a fascination with language.

FRENCH CANADIAN IN QUEBEC

This is the book for all the special French Canadian contractions you will hear in Quebec. Well Audibled by Martin, not an easy task.

No idea Le Quebecois was even a thing!

I studied French in school and it's so interesting to see the difference between Le Quebecois and French. My plan is to visit Quebec as soon as Canada reopens so it's great to have this audiobook to reference during my trip.

Really enjoyed, highly recommend!

So Helpful for Trips to Canada

I was wondering why my knowledge of the French language, although limited, did me little to no good when visiting Quebec on business. Now I know! There is a vast difference when it comes to French in Quebec and French in France. This book covers the basic sayings to help you get by and not be caught in an uncomfortable situation. I highly recommend this book for Francophiles visiting any French Canadian region of Canada. It has certainly helped me! Thanks Martin!

Great learning audiobook!

I’ve been to Canada before, specifically Quebec, and I didn’t realize how widely used Canadian French was. I was on a mission to become more familiar with the language so I didn’t seem like so much of a tourist. This audiobook was great to learn some of the basics of Canadian French. I loved the chapter on swear words, made me laugh! It was really enjoyable. I think it would be awesome pass time for someone who is road tripping to Canada. It was helpful and informative. I’m going to recommend it to a couple of my friends that are moving up to Canada over the summer!
