About this listen

It is a week since the outbreak began in New York. The president has been betrayed. The vice-president is dead. The conspirators are close to victory.

Having narrowly escaped agents of the cabal, Tom Clemens heads to Washington in the hope of warning the president, but it is too late. The highways are impassable, filled with millions fleeing from the cities. As refugees storm the towns, and zombies fill the smoking ruins, survivors become more deadly a threat than the impossibly living dead. Still hopeful he can find the cause of the outbreak and so end it, Tom fights his way through an undead America, unaware that the cabal are searching for him.

From Surviving the Evacuation, this is the second part of Sholto's escape from a collapsing United States.

Great Story !

My only complaint is I wish the narrator had put more inflection into the voices he did for the women. He made them all seem very bored and if it was an effort to talk and every emotion sounded the same . Especially Helena she had a very flat affect as if she was on to many antidepressants. Other than that I really loved the story and it was very well written.

Excellent Story and Narration

The Here We Stand series is excellent. If you are a fan of the Surviving The Evacuation and Life Goes On series, then Here We Stand is required listening.

Theodore Copeland does an excellent job, he varies his voice with different characters so it is clear who is talking. I find him pleasant to listen to.

Okay Companion Series

Any additional comments?

This isn't a bad listen but it also didn't hold me like the original series does.

love this series so much!

I loved it. I've already read the 12 books in the main series so far. this was just the cherry on top. I really wasn't dissappointed. Frank Tayell made an awesome series here. I hope he keeps it up.

Stand seems to Stagger

Any additional comments?

Tayell is a very good writer and I enjoy his work. This, and the Here We Stand series, is ok but not his best. There are complex plot points, situations and characters here - but they often come across as overthought to the detriment of what is going on in the moment of the story. This brings the Surviving the Evacuation series almost full circle so its worth a listen if you want more background on that.

Copeland, as always, does a very good job with the narration.

Amateurish

very disappointing after reading the other books in this series. the writing is very amateurish. and the main character's personality completely
changed from the other books. The narrator is awful compared to the other one Frank used for "surviving the evacuation". this narrator makes all the female voices sound like drag queens and his geographic voices are cartoonish. all and all it's hard to believe same person with both these series
