Acerca de esta escucha

The Sucias are back in this sexy showstopper of a novel from the best-selling author of The Dirty Girls Social Club.

In Dirty Girls on Top, the Sucias are five years older, five times as much fun - but, sad to say, maybe not five times wiser.

Lauren is at the top of her game as a columnist for the Boston Herald but still hasn't figured out how to pick a guy - or how to eat (and not eat) like a healthy person. And Usnavys is still sashaying all over town, all 260 pounds of her, dolled up in designer duds and ready for action - action from anyone except her husband, Juan, who has become just the littlest bit boring staying home taking care of the house and baby Carolina.

Maybe the other Sucias could help Lauren and Usnavys - that is, if they didn't have so many of their own messes to deal with. Ella magazine founder Rebecca has just found out that her picture-perfect marriage may not yield any children. Sara may be the star of her own decorating show on television, but her dangerous pull toward her ex-husband Roberto isnï¿¿ï¿¿t so pretty. Amber keeps renaming herself, hoping that that's enough to keep the public interested in her music. And Elizabeth is discovering that a relationship with another woman takes more than being out and proud.

Most of all, Dirty Girls on Top is all about sex and love - getting it, not getting it, yearning for it, having it with the wrong person, fighting it from the right person, trying it a new way, giving up on it, and, in the end, if your fingers are crossed, having it come out just the way it should.

Great book/Horrible Narrator

I love Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez books but this narrator does a horrible Boston accent and can’t pronounce Spanish words at all. Usnavy’s voice is whiny. Nena is pronounced Neh-Nah! Not Ney-Nuh. (CRINGE!!!!)

Great Book, uncomfortable accent

Great story so i kept listening, but since all of these characters are Latinas--couldnt the narrator been trained to pronounce the Spanish slang properly? Thats what so funny about this series--the slang, its very distracting to have to try to figure out what they were attemping to say. Too bad!

Funny and entertaining.

Takes a while to get characters straight, but kept my interest on a long road trip.

SPANISH FROM SPANISH CLASS

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The actual book probably the audio version no the accents killed it

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Amber & Usnavy. They both don't care what you think personality.

What didn’t you like about Cynthia Holloway’s performance?

They needed a Spanish speaker who sounds like she speaks Spanish not like she's an English speaking person whos learning Spanish.

Could you see Dirty Girls on Top being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes. America Ferra as Usnavy maybe Rosario Dawson as Amber and Zoe Saldana as Elizabeth

Maybe next time use an ACTUAL Latino to Narrate..

the story was good but t he obvious non-spanish speaking white girl that was Narrated made it unpleasant to listen to, She struggled to pronounce words with her emphasis on the wrong syllables..I can't believe they couldn't find a Latino or Spanish female to read this... maybe the Production Company could put forth a little effort....

Disappointed and Disgusted

I listened to the first book - Dirty Girls Social Club - and rather enjoyed it. By the end of the book I had come to like the 6 main characters and their different stories. I liked it so much that I bought this sequel before my new credits were even earned.
I don't know if I can make it through anymore of this book. I'm almost 3 hours into it and appalled at what has happened to these characters. All of a sudden I'm listening to a soft porn book. All they talk about is sex - and way too graphically for my tastes. I'm not a prude by any means but I find myself completely repulsed by their new monologues. I keep hoping the next character will talk normally, and much to my dismay, they don't. I know there is a story line in there somewhere with Sarah and Roberto...but I don't think I'll make it through to find out what it is.

Seriously? The narrator,Gringa accent insulting!

The continuation of the previous book was interesting. But, this new narrator was a gringa and her pronounciation of spanish words/slang was pathetic and insulting. Her NY and/or Boston accent was not much better. How important is this for an audio book? Had I known, I would have bought the paperback. I can't believe this was the best they could do. I had a very hard time paying attention to the story due to her sad sad attempt to speak spanish/spanglish. Alisa/editors, what were you thinking?

Miss!pronounced

Kudos to the narrator for attempting to cover the range of Latinidad accents/dialects but found the mispronunciations of commonly used and indigenous words (pero, mira and Mexica) was hard to listen to.

Got Latina?!?

Why wouldn't they get a Latina to read this book??? It's a good story but the narrator's "Spanish" accent makes me cringe and distracts from the story. SMH...

Terrible narrator, so disappointed

Wow, I really loved the first book. The narration in the first book kept me laughing, interested in the story and left me wanting more. I had really high expectations for the continuing story. Boy, was I disappointed. The narration was incredibly bad. I’m really disappointed that the narrator could not pronounce Spanish words, pronounce names in Spanish or pronounce spanglish, that is just pathetic. I really tried to follow the story, but the fact that the narrator made SUCH a lame attempt to pronounce words aggravated me and I found it hard to follow the story. I purchased the audio book despite the fact that other reviews pointed out the lack of attempt at pronouncing words. Next time I will listen. Alisa, editors, publishers…please take note…the narrator makes or breaks the story. In this case Cynthia Holloway broke it.
