Die übergossene Alm am Hochkönig: Weithin erhebt sich der mächtige Gebirgsstock des Hochkönigs mit seinem ausgedehnten Gletscher- und Firnfelder der übergossenen Alm.
Auf dieser nun vom ewigen Eis starrenden Fläche lagen einst mitten im freundlichen Waldesgrün saftige Wiesen und Matten, wo kniehohes Gras wuchs und friedliche Rinderherden der üppigen Weide nachgingen.
In den behaglichen Almhütten war eine Schar frohgemuter Sennerinnen täglich am Werk, die reichlich sprudelnde Milch zu verarbeiten. Und so groß war der unaufhörlich strömende Segen, dass man Käse und Butter gar nicht mehr wegschaffen konnte. Viel Geld floss in die Taschen der Sennerinnen, und das gute Leben machte sie übermütig und ausgelassen und verführte sie mit der Zeit zu allerhand Schandtaten...
