About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Read by award-winning narrator Jeff Harding.

**NOW A MAJOR PRIME TV SERIES STARRING ALAN RITCHSON**

Jack Reacher, alone, strolling nowhere. A Chicago street in bright sunshine. A young woman, struggling on crutches. Reacher offers her a steadying arm.

And turns to see a handgun aimed at his stomach.

Chained in a dark van racing across America, Reacher doesn't know why they've been kidnapped. The woman claims to be FBI. She's certainly tough enough. But at their remote destination, will raw courage be enough to overcome the hopeless odds?

Although the Jack Reacher novels can be read in any order, Die Trying is the 2nd in the series.

'Cunning, explosive . . . A thumping good read.' Time Out

‘Jeff Harding’s [...] narration captures Reacher’s character perfectly [...] you have to savour every minute.’

Ok story, but annoying narrator

My second Reacher book. It was OK, but The killing floor was more suspenseful and showcased the character to a greater degree. This one seems a bit too easy and inplausible plot, with a straight forward story. The narrators voice was a bit annoying with a style that reminds me of someone reading a list of single sentences, with a soft exclamation mark at the end of each one. The character voices is pretty good so he avoids a the single star.

Great book

I really liked the book but I would have liked a narrator that acts out the story a bit more abd changes his voice more to highlight som events and phrases.

To clarify a bit: He is not at all a bad narrator but I would have liked something a bit different.

Good story,

Probably a little closer to possible than I am completely comfortable with.
The intonation of the narrator started to grate about halfway through and by the end I was pretty happy to be done. That raising tone kept pulling me out of the story.

Shockingly bad narration

The narration and intonation of this audiobook is the worst I've ever heard. The narrator thinks that dramatic delivery can be achieved by inflecting at the end of each sentence to imply menace, even in lines that are not intended to have any drama at all. Painful.

Story is good but narration just difficult to keep you glued

The story is great but the narrator makes it difficult to follow along. Not sure exactly why as other books with the same narrator were much better.

Good Voice, utterly devoid of talent.

When listening to the book you constantly have the feeling you are trapped in a 1980 movie trailer. It is a constant sing-song of up and down, trying to create urgency and tension where there is none in the text.
It is so bad that I can not speak to the story itself, as I could not get through more than one hour of listening.
