Der Terraner erreicht sein Ziel - Perry Rhodan bei den Galornen.
In der Menschheitsgalaxis geht im Frühjahr 1289 Neuer Galaktischer Zeitrechnung die unheimliche Invasion der sogenannten Tolkander-Völker weiter: Über 200.000 Raumschiffe der Invasoren haben sich bereits angesammelt. Ihre Besatzungen - die Neezer, Gazkar, Alazar und Eloundar - werden mittlerweile durch die Chaeroder und Physander unterstützt.
Massiver Widerstand ist von den stark zerstrittenen galaktischen Großmächten so gut wie nicht zu erwarten. Die Bemühungen Atlans und seiner Mitstreiter, die Galaktiker zu einem einheitlichen Vorgehen zu bewegen, kamen über Ansätze nicht hinaus.
Nachdem eine grauenvolle Todeswelle auf 52 der sogenannten Brutplaneten Millionen und Abermillionen Menschen aller galaktischen Völker sowie der Tolkander umgebracht hat, halten die Galaktiker sozusagen die Luft an. Die Verantwortlichen sind sicher, dass die Bedrohung sich weiter steigern wird - aber keiner hat konkrete Vorstellungen.
Von all dem wissen Perry Rhodan und Reginald Bull natürlich nichts. Die beiden Terraner sind, seit sie im Pilzdom verschwunden und über die Brücke in die Unendlichkeit gegangen sind, in der Galaxis Plantagoo unterwegs.
Nach dem Flug mit der HOGOBANDEN, den die Terraner und ihre Begleiter vom Volk der Zentrifaal nur mit Mühe überlebt haben, haben sie offensichtlich ihr Ziel erreicht: das Herrschaftsgebiet der mysteriösen Galornen, DIE PENTRISCHE WOLKE...
