Die Götter scheinen es nicht gut mit Alconia, der Thronfolgerin Ronganiens, zu meinen. Belastet mit dem Wissen von der Existenz nach Weltherrschaft gierender Dämonen und den Sorgen um ihren Vater, bemüht Alconia sich verzweifelt darum, die verfahrene Situation in den Griff zu bekommen. Erschwert wird ihr dies nicht nur durch die Intrigen der Adligen am Hof, sondern auch durch die Horden der Aufständischen, die sich auf den Weg zu ihrer Burg Sargan gemacht haben. Bald schon muss die Prinzessin ein paar schwerwiegende Entscheidungen fällen, die nicht nur ihr eigenes Leben in Gefahr bringen.
