It shows just how brutal you need to be to hope to succeed at counterinsurgency warfare.

Outstanding Story of Vietnam before the US

Well read and interesting, says a lot about what worked and what did not there.

Fact? Fiction?

I'm not sure whether anyone can prove that this work is fiction or non fiction, but regardless it is a well written book and a lot of fun. The narration and character choices were superb.

This book should be mandatory reading by all service academies and NCO courses. A very realistic perspective of guerrilla war.

Excellent narration of the battles fought by the Damed Legion of the French Foreign Legion. One wonders if the West, after WW2 is really ready to win another war.

One of the best stories of war ive ever listened to. Phenomenal forgotten piece of history. Monsters are sometimes needed to destroy monsters.

Make a series out of this!

The entire story was captivating and thrilling. The narrator was perfect. The way this plays out is perfect for a miniseries as long as it is untainted by politically correct film makers. It could be better than The Pacific, Band of Brothers and Generation Kill.
