About this listen

Annie Mae is seven years old, cute as a button, and when she's mad - a cross between Carrie and Chucky combined.

Kaylynn Silva has just been hired as a tutor by the very wealthy Reilly family. The salary is generous, her bedroom is luxurious, she has her own bathroom - with a jacuzzi - and only one student, their young daughter, Annie May! Kaylynn thinks she has landed her dream job, but it may be a nightmare from which she can't wake up.

At first, everything seems to be going great. Annie May is an adorable seven-year-old child and very bright. But soon, Kaylynn begins to notice disturbing things about her pupil that defy logical explanation. People Annie Mae gets mad at suffer terrible accidents, and some even wind up dead. Kaylynn begins to suspect something malevolent is hidden beneath the seven-year-old's sweet, freckled façade.

Kaylynn begins to unravel a dark family secret, which the Reilly’s will protect at all costs, even if it means sacrificing innocent lives. As Annie grows stronger, Kaylynn finds herself in a race against time to find out what Annie really is and how to stop it. If she doesn’t, more people will die, and the greatest evil of all will be unleashed on the unsuspecting human race.

And with a mounting sense of terror, Kaylynn realizes it's only a matter of time before she becomes Annie’s next target.

Loved it!

4.5 stars- It takes a lot to scare me but Devil’s Born absolutely terrified me. The vibes of the story were a combination of “The Exorcist”, “Chucky”, and “Rosemary’s Baby”. There were so many twists and turns throughout the story and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Additionally, the narrator did an incredible job of making the story extra creepy. Overall, I highly recommend listening to this book and I definitely plan to read and listen to future books from Mia Giglio.

Devil's Born

This book scared me so bad. I couldn't stop listening even though I was scared. Mia Giglio did a wonderful job writing this book. Jennifer Pineda was amazing as narrator.

Devil in the Details

Devil's Born makes me think about if the movies "Damien" and "The Demon Seed" had a hell spawn of a child. All I can say is Wow! Please do a book 2 my inquiring mind needs to know more. The book is absolutely phenomenal well written and narrated. The characters are well developed. I love the big little twist that the author slips in there that made me go "what the hey" really. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves horror books wrapped in a slight mystery. I will say this book is enough to give you nightmares about sweet little innocent 7 year old little girls. The narrator was amazing her voice fit perfectly, and her emotions simply brought the story to life.

Interesting story, good narration

Would be good if author reduced using the adverb sardonically less. Becomes a bit jarring when one keeps hearing the word sardonically, once too often. Jennifer’s narration is great, however, would be hood if the echo from the recording could be improved. In the initial recording there were markedly some feedback or echoes. Toward the last part of the audio, the recording is better.

Super creepy

Woow...this was super creepy...so, naturally, I was drawn in immediately! I'm not a huge fan of horror, but this book was a good read. Recommended, if you like being creeped out for hours and yet oddly entertained!

Demonic Child?

If you are looking for a creepy, well-written tale for your listening enjoyment, you can't go wrong with this one. Reminiscent of "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Exorcist", I was hooked from the beginning.

Kaylynn Silva is hired as a tutor for an adorable 7 year old named Annie Mae. However, there is much, much more to Annie than meets the eye. When strange things start to happen in the Reilly household, Kaylynn starts to investigate. What she discovers is truly horrific.

The story moves at a fast pace and it was hard to stop listening. The author does a great job in creating the atmosphere of horror experienced by those who encounter Annie. There was obviously a lot of research done by the author which added a lot to the book. I will definitely be looking for more books by her. And, I always did find Barbie dolls to be a little creepy. This book just reinforced my impression!

The narrator did a great job and her performance added a lot to my enjoyment of the book. My only complaint is that some of the sound quality was poor and had an echo-type sound to it. I was given the chance to listen to this book by the publisher and chose to review it.
