Den danske forfatter Viggo Madsen (f. 1943) er uddannet bibliotekar og arbejdede på Vollsmose Bibliotek i Odense fra 1973 og frem til sin pension i 2003. Viggo Madsen debuterede med romanen "Brandmand på to hjul" i 1966 og har efterfølgende udgivet adskillige digtsamlinger, flere romaner og en række børnebøger - heriblandt serien om Detektivklubben. Han modtog Emil Aarestrup Medaljen i 2000 og har gennem sin forfatterkarriere flere gange modtaget legater fra blandt andet Statens Kunstfond, hvorfra han i 2009 desuden modtog legatet Livsvarig ydelse, der siden 2014 har gået under navnet Hædersydelse. Viggo Madsens børnebogsserie "Detektivklubben" følger over 8 bind en gruppe unge mennesker i deres jagt på at opklare den ene spændende sag efter den anden.
