About this listen
Men kunstværket kræver sine ofre.©2017 Gyldendal (P)2017 Gyldendal

And she certainly never knew that her medical school earned the nickname Dead Med thanks to the tragic history of students overdosing on illegal drugs. But Heather would never consider doing anything like that. That is, until her longtime boyfriend dumps her, she finds herself failing anatomy, and her world starts to crumble.

Kaspers tredje bog ’Det europæiske forår’
Would you listen to Det europæiske forår again? Why?
Who was your favorite character and why?
What three words best describe Dan Schlosser’s performance?
With his third book 'The European Spring', Kaspar Colling Nielsen draws a dystopic image of our near future. Europe is in an ideological war against Islam, and technology is evolving at an ever increasing pace. In this chaos, the main characters of the book try to find some meaning with it all. With life and with art.
European spring ', which deals with art, technological development, refugees and, in particular, the fate of four people in a Europe that is about itself.
The artist Stig, his wife Elisabeth, a brain researcher, and their psychologically unstable daughter Emma, after mature consideration, decides to move from the hectic Copenhagen to idyllic Lolland. What matters to the story is that in this book, Copenhagen has become a far more raw and plagued place with violent actions in the streets and terrorist attacks in schools. And Lolland has become a very attractive place as you have established an extremely comfortable community that only gives access to the special initiators.
Because of this, research must be done in robots and intelligence, and as the family is in need of air change, they make it happen. Also the middle aged artist Christian, whose artistic driving force over time is equal to juicy sex with the very young and mentally retarded girl Mia, enters the reserve at Lolland.
Together with the Lollandian society, a picture of an Amager-large area in Mozambique, which Denmark has bought for the purpose of keeping those immigrants who are too unsuitable to be able to travel in Denmark, is taken. The area is designed as a city with a university, cafes, shops, football pitches and what else belongs to, and Emma decides that she, like another volunteer, will go to Mozambique to help.
The novel offers an ocean of both current and eternal issues such as refugee issues, science's blessings and curses, nature vs. culture, art, ethics, conscience and much more. Among several of the novel's (and animals) an increasing cynicism is emerging as the opportunities that the beautiful new world opens.
There is substance for plenty of reflection, debates and conversations. It is both a literary pleasure and an intellectual enrichment to read 'The European Spring'
