In 1869, Gloriana Womack's family is much smaller since smallpox killed her mother and two of her siblings. Competition for the railroad is fierce, with the neighboring city of Superior, Wisconsin, fighting for the tracks to come through their town instead. But the real danger lies in a resident of Duluth who is determined to have his revenge upon Luke.

When tragedy brings Gloriana and Luke together, they help each other through their grief and soon find their lives inextricably linked. If they survive the trials ahead, could it be possible they've been destined for each other all along?

Love the narration and the story. I lived in Minnesota and loved Duluth. I love this author. She never disappoints me.

I’m from Minnesota so this was extra fun to read. Enjoyed the history and clear message from God’s Word. Salvation by faith in Jesus as Savior!

the climax was much calmer than anticipated. it seemed to drag on at some points as well but the story was good.

it was rather slow but I did enjoy all the references to trusting in God. thank you for writing this book.

Gloriana and Luke were two people who destined to be together.

This story was so sweet and I would like to listen to the Ladies of the Lake.

Heartfelt story. The the talks between JT and his sister ere so well written. The doubts they had about God and the suffering the went through over the father death so insightful and true. I don’t cry over books but this one I did. Excellent story line. I appreciate so much how Tracie Peterson weaves a story.

Lacks Depth of Emotions

I thoroughly enjoy storyline, plot, and setting. The characters lacked a depth of emotional connection with the reader. The two falling in love were only surface discussed and described.
