Ganz nebenbei wird auf diese Weise die komplizierte Handlung des "Ring" vermittelt. Die vorgestellten Leitmotive bilden mithin den roten Faden durch sechzehn Stunden "Ring"-Musik. Die Handlung wird hier also nicht isoliert wiedergegeben, sondern lehnt sich eng an die musikalische Entwicklung an: Über die musikalischen Grundbausteine des "Ring" und deren Entwicklung erklärt sich der Handlungsablauf wie von selbst.
Auch mit dieser Ausgabe des "Klassik(ver)führers" soll Lust auf mehr gemacht werden, möglicherweise gar auf das gesamte Werk. Er richtet sich demnach zunächst an Einsteiger und Wagner-Neulinge und soll auf einfache und nachvollziehbare Weise die Faszination der Musik Wagners vermitteln und die musikdramatische Sprache der mythischen Welt im "Ring des Nibelungen" zu entschlüsseln und verstehen helfen.
